MCU Versus: Ronan the Accuser (no power stone) VS Dr. Strange (no time stone)

How can Strange even kill Ronan? He mostly uses those whips to tie up people and only used a fire sword against Thanos for a few seconds (while Thanos was fighting Drax, 2VS 1)

He could transmute him into butterflies for one. Dump him into the mirror realm. Eat him with BFR tentacles like he did to those troops in endgame. Smash him around with river blocking TK. Spam copies of himself and trap Ronan in snares before cutting him in half with a portal.

Our war would yield countless dead
    But never victory
So let us cast arms aside
    And like discard our wrath
Thou, in faith, will keep us safe
    Whilst we find the path"

If he could easily transmute Ronan to butterflies, why didn't he do the same against Cull and Ebony?

Because then there wouldn't be any rising stakes in the movie. That's Plot-Induced Stupidity (PIS)

PIS mostly. If he can turn what appears to be a singularity into butterflies, some meat and bone shouldnt be hard.

He probably would have whooped Cull. Maw was a good match for him mostly because Maw can beat him to the punch. As Strange was throwing out fancy gang signs and getting his spells ready Maw would tangle him up in stuff. Just a good stylistic fight for Maw. I hesitate to say he was blitzing the guy.... more like could disrupt him with lower effort gestures and what not before Strange got fancy.

There's a chance Ronan could blitz Dr. Strange with his hammer by blasting him to the floor, which could give Ronan time to close the distance and smash the sorcerer into bits of lasagna.

It's the Accuser's only chance. Otherwise, Strange destroys him through a myriad of ways.

Strange's defensive options are quite fast. He blocks the initial blast 10/10 imo and then does something nasty

The initial blast wouldn't be much of a problem. Thanos' blasts would be more powerful than Ronan's rod.

I mean, Strange matched Thanos with four infinity stones for a bit. Ronan without any stones is kinda freaking hosed.

    Absolute stomp in Strange's favour.

Moderate brick with no notable superspeed versus competent sorcerer will only ever end with one winner.

Strange has countless ways to deal with Ronan.

But what offensive spells does Strange even have? When he was fighting Thanos, all he did was block and transmute Thanos' blasts, and then used his magic whips to tie up Thanos. The only time we see Strange actually use something offensive on Thanos was with a fire sword, and Strange isn't a master swordsman

He unleashed an energy blast against Thanos after the whole moon throw thing. And in Endgame he had several mystical tentacles pull enemies into some other dimension where they'll probably die.

And as Wong showed against Cull Obsidian, the portals can be used to cut off limbs.

So yeah, Ronan is hosed. Strange just has too many options.

I forgot about that lightning-like firebolt that Strange shot at Thanos. As for the portal to cut off limbs part... I think that might be something that can be rarely pulled off, otherwise Strange could have just used that for Thanos' arm to cut the glove off it

There's nothing saying it's something that can be rarely pulled off, especially since its just "opening one of my transportation portals and closing it before the enemy gets all the way through". The only reason we have that he didn't do it against Thanos was because then the heroes would win and there would be no need for Endgame to happen.
Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence.
