Then again, in terms of representing the highest ideals of superheroes, I like the point some people made here that ideals are something to strive for, but it doesn't make you less of a good person if you can't always live up to those ideals. Human beings are flawed. Human beings fail and/or screw up sometimes (or a lot). Semi-realistically, superheroes would be much the same, though as Charles Xavier said to his younger self in the film adaptation of Days of Future Past, "Just because someone stumbles and loses their way, it doesn't mean they're lost forever." Granted, Xavier in the comics is very much one of those characters who preached high virtues and ideals that he ultimately failed to live up to in his own life and dealings, but at the same time, the statement still holds merit. People don't have to be defined by their worst slip-ups and mistakes in life, and neither do superheroes. Originally Posted by theoneandonly

In some states in the US, the age of consent is 18, while in others it's 17. I think it's 17 in NY. Consenting or not, anyone having intimate relations with a person below that age, even if both are technically teenagers, can be prosecuted, imprisoned and registered as a sex offender. But wait, it gets better, because in several states there are laws that establish that a person below a certain age, usually 16, are deemed legally incapable of giving consent. I'm sure everyone has heard of the Genarlow Wilson case, where a 17-year-old boy received a 10 year prison sentence for engaging in consensual oral sex with a 15-year-old female. But the real world "Romeo and Juliet" laws don't just apply to heterosexual relations. Have to agree with Firestar and Nightcrawler. Firestar was a straight up super hero with her New Warriors and Avenger roles before joining the X Men.
