Default How do people feel about Ta Nehisi Coates writing Captain America

I've really enjoyed Waid's run. It's been nice to have some classic Cap stories, and while I have enjoyed Black Panther, I can't help but feel like Coates will focus too much on his own political agenda. I hope he is able to write Cap as Cap. With the return of the big 3 Avengers, Aaron seems to be focusing on the heroic legacy, and I hope we have a writer that actually liked Captain America and what he stands for.

I'm alright with it. Every writer has their 'perspective' and I may agree with some or disagree, but I'm still excited and alright.

Personally, I'm excited for it. I have really loved his BLACK PANTHER (I know its not a popular opinion on these boards but I consider him the second best T'Challa writer,s econd only to Priest) and I'm very much looking forward to his take on Cap. The fact that it has been said there will be a lot of the supporting cast from Brubaker's CAP run helps too.

I'm sure he won't be to everyone's taste but I'm excited.

    Cheers.

    James.

I think he will be a good fit on Cap more so than Black Panther

    The FCBD preview was solid
    We need better comics

If any book should be "political" it's a Captain America book.

It's no accident that he got to write Black Panther and Captain America. These are characters who inherently are going to be political in nature, so he's somewhat in his wheel house.

I think it'll end up being an interesting ride.

True, but it's his wheel house, the same way dialogue is Bendis' wheelhouse. Doesn't make the stories good.

It’s too bad him writing this book wasn’t enough for him to gtfo of the Black Panther franchise. *sighs*

We'll find out how good the stories are when they come out.

But frankly you don't put a political writer on a comic book unless you're essentially expecting him to tell those sort of stories.

But he can't write fiction in general much less Black Panther or Captain America.
"Excellent!" I cried. "Elementary," said he
