Acoustic guitar played a prominent role in popular music for decades, especially during the 1960s and 1970s when performers such as the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, James Taylor, Jim Croce, Bread, John Denver, the Eagles, Dan Fogelberg, and so many others featured acoustic guitar as the primary instruments in many of their hit songs. Even as "recently" as the late 1980s/early 1990s, rock acts such as Guns 'n Roses, Poison, and Extreme had hit recordings based around acoustic guitar. The last one I can remember, however, is Eric Clapton's 1993 hit "Tears In Heaven." Have there been more recent acoustic guitar-based pop songs that made it big in terms of sales, airplay, and general notoriety?
