Yeah, helping out one of Wally's writers who has hit hard times is such a no-brainer, he is the clear choice.

Does anyone have a way of contacting him?

What a great way to honor a hero like Wally! This reminds me of when HEAT decided to turn their energy into positive, charitable acts back in the day. I look forward to seeing this inspired project flourish! (and for ways that I might contribute in the future when plans solidify)

So let's go back to work and summarize what we want to do.

    Our commitments :

We ensure and protect the idea of legacy in society, which means we should do some good for the younger generations and, as many of you mentionned, we should also take care of the artists who promoted the ideals behind Wally West, like Bill Messner-Loebs.

    Our name :

We should keep it simple. How about The Wally West Initiative ?

    Our goals :

Right now, Bored suggested we should try something with Big Brothers Big Sisters. How should we proceed ? I can contact the organization, if you want and talk about our proposition : send Wally West comics to kids ?

I have to say I would love to do something like that for the kids in hospital. It might be easier to send books to these structures.

Then, Dred is cooking something about Messner-Loebs.

    We start a website/social media page :

I don't where we can or should communicate about our group and our goals. These days, social media seems the way to go. Do you have any ideas ?

Plus, we should definitely have a chat group where we can see more effectively who is involved, who is doing something. Again any ideas ?

    Our plan :

First of all, we must engage communication with the community and share what we are planning to do. We definitely need help, so here is a list of people I think we should contact :

    - CBR (obviously)
    - Bleeding Cool (Johnston loves to write about things like this)
    - Newsarama
    - ComicBook
    - The Let's Talk Wally West pages on Twitter
    - DC Reddit Pages

And, I think it would be a good idea to ask the help of the artists who expressed their love for Wally like :

    - Geoff Johns
    - Gary Frank
    - Francis Manapul
    - Mitch Gerads
    - Doc Shaner
    - Scott Snyder
    - Mark Waid
    - Brett Booth
    - Scott Kolins
    - Howard Porter

Maybe they have Wally books to send to the organizations or they can help raise money with sketches or littles things like that.

What do you think, guys ?

I'm really motivated to do something so I hope I can find some help for this

Thank you for reading BTW ! And have a nice day !

Count me in on this as well. I used to follow him on Facebook but I haven't seen an update in quite a while.

    Fantastic! Love it!

I would urge more than just sending comics. As a teacher I see first hand how many kids are neglected either by parents that don’t care or prarents that are having to work numerous jobs to provide. Volunteer to tutor, read, or just spend time in general with kids/teens.

I would also recommend contacting local libraries, schools, etc.

How about a Kickstarter campaign for a Messner-Loebs written Wally West one-shot??
I contributed to the UNFORGOTTEN benefit book and would HAPPILY contribute to make such a book a reality.
Bill gets some work (and PAY) and fans get a book by a very talented writer who loves the character!
    Win Win!!

A colleague, this is great !

I agree with you, sending books will never be enough but at the moment, that’s all we can do and that’s a first step in the right direction, I hope.

I really think we should keep it simple at first.

That would be awesome but I don’t think DC would allow a kickstarter like this one. Wally is still their property and they just can’t allow someone who doesn’t work anymore for them to make money from a DC character.

That being said, I’d pay everything you want to see him back on The Flash !

Well, basically, I teach to students in Middle School and High School. I also teach french grammar and litterature in University when they need some help. So each year I have different grade levels. It's a lot of work but it's nice and really rewarding to try new things every year.

    What about you ?

Fantastic! Currently teaching middle school and I love it! I know..... I’m crazy But it’s a fun age group.

I’ve taught high school before and it was ok. I was also fortunate enough to teach several college courses with a graduate assistantship.

I’m the band director and music technology teacher.
