My local comic shop has a lot of issues of this series pretty cheap. Other then The Walking Dead I have not strayed from Marvel or Dc. Is this series any good? Where is a good place to start? Thanks for the help.

Personally, I love Hack/Slash. If you enjoy a fun take on 80s slasher movies (complete with gratuitous violence and sexual innuendo) done with knowing humor, this series is a great read. The art is pretty much uniformly excellent (Seeley mostly writes but he draws an occasional issue or cover and he's done high profile work such as X-men and early issues are often penciled by Stefano Caselli who has done a lot of work on Amazing Spider-man, Dan Leister does the most issues and I think he's great).
As for a good place to start - there are paperback omnibuses that collect the entire series. The first volume would be the ideal starting point. Otherwise, I believe there is a trade or issue called "My First Maniac" that was designed to be a jumping on point with a bit of recap.
My comicartfans.com collection. Lots of Ryan Ottley:

Thanks for the answer. What is the name of the first series? I would rahter have single issues then trades.

It's just called Hack/Slash. It will be a little hard collecting the single issues as there are many one-shots and mini-series.

That's the first issue. I believe I have everything so this may help you out if you wanted a checklist:
