Default Howabout a GOOD Alien vs. Predator movie (Fox/Disney)

Hopefully the success of Godzilla king of monsters can make this happen.

Would love a GOOD AvP film with Colonial marines caught in the middle. It could feature dropships, tanks, pulse rifles etc.

An adaptation of the 1990 Ryushu planet story would be cool too.

YOUR ideas and opinions on this?

The last 2 movies were good not great but good as for Godzilla King of the monsters it's not a success yet.

    Ironically history is repeating itself.

You got two mediocre to awful Alien movies (in this case the prequels to the then Alien 3 and Resurrection) and a decent Predator sequel albeit not what anybody was expecting resulting in a divided fanbase, but general acceptance given the longer it gets from release.
You also got an upcoming release of toys and instead of Kenner it's Neca releasing a Batman versus Predator, and Superman Versus Alien two pack, for SDCC. And just like Kenner which didn't in most cases have an explicit tie-in to the crossover but marketed alongside the comic, you have actually had a Batman Versus Predator versus Superman Versus Aliens comic which this ties into although broadly.
And like before, there are multiple AVP scripts floating around Hollywood. Like before they got considered but for one reason or another move ahead with an Alien movie with disastrous results.

If things fall in line totally like they did last time and we know a director who would make it happen like Anderson, we are looking at a new AVP within 10 years. I patiently await our new awkwardly human looking Predator face.

How about we let these "franchises" rest until we actually miss them.

...successful or not, what does Godzilla have to do with Alien vs Predator? Like, what's the connection here?

How about not? I like these movies and don't want to go decades without seeing them, and there's no guarantee we'll get better movies if we wait either. I say keep cranking them out every few years and eventually someone behind the scenes will get put in charge who actually understands what made these franchises great to begin with (sadly for Alien, it seems the original creator no longer gets it).

Of course there is a guarantee we will get a better movie it is called a "remake". At some point people might have to realize the only good movie was maybe the originals ones .So yeah rest franchise a little, do good remake of the original predator and aliens but of course build in the keys so you can make more. Just keep throwing out bad expensive movies which make people dislike the franchise is not recipe for success eventually doesn't always come.

Dutch and Ripley are much stars Xenomorphs and Predators. A competent remake is a lot easier than make making something new of course it does not always work but waiting and remaking is a better strategy than carpet bombing until you find something that works or destroy franchise. Even Terminator is learning the lesson Sarah Connor is a much of star as the Terminator. But hey what do I know people really wanted and liked Terminator 3, Terminator Salvation,Terminator Genisys, Predators and The Predator, Alien Covenant and Prometheus keep doing more of that.

    Time matters

Agree to disagree then, remakes are obviously the last thing I and many other fans want.

Of course you guys don't want a remake that is why movies need to rested. When fans are comfortable and looking forward with the best story in the franchise being told again that is when these "franchises" will have a chance again.

As for another AvP movie, I like the idea of a real Colonial marines versus Aliens than another trying force another predator vs Aliens situation. A really well put together Marines unit versus planet filled Aliens would be cool. Then maybe when the survivors are going back home their ship crashes and it turns out to be on a predator planet. And tie the two franchise together that way.

Indeed, hasn't been a good alien or predator movie in decades.

Yeah no, no amount of time (reasonably) is going to make us more okay with a reboot. Look at Ghostbusters, that was 30 years later more or less and nobody wanted a reboot. Robocop remake didn't do well, and that was about 20 years later. Nightmare on Elm Street reboot didn't wow anyone after like a decade since the one before it. Rest or no rest, people are never going to be particularly excited. The most likely outcome of your plan would be we go 20-30 years without a movie, get a crap remake, and then go without again. Which is closer to the film death of these franchises than the security of their future. They don't need remakes/reboots, they don't need a long rest, they just need good movies.

We should dump these long-dead "franchises" on a distant desolate planet with a beacon warning space travellers to not approach.

Or you could just not watch the new movies.

Why do people always feel it's best for a franchise to die when they've stopped enjoying them yet there's other people who either do still enjoy them or are still hopeful it can be turned around?

Ya I never did get that it's like the people who want the Simpsons to end.

Exactly, just because you're done with it doesn't mean everyone else is. People still enjoy Alien, Predator, and the Simpsons (now there's a crossover! And Disney owns all three now! AvPvS!). Leave the toys in the toybox for the rest of us to play with, don't put it up on a shelf in a closet somewhere.
