Nah that was just Bendis being Bendis he's the same guy who based Disassembled on a story point resolved years earlier.

Clint later admitted to Bobbi he was wrong about the Phantom Rider situation. It's not unreasonable to think he'd changed his mind about killing.

The thing is in comic book logic (and to a degree sci-fi fiction in general), dying and coming back to life is somewhat of a free pass in comics to write the character out of character. The most extreme example would be Drax the Destroyer... he went from a Superman to a Hulk to a Wolverine and back again everytime he died.

Paladin is inconsistent enough that I suspect he might be covering up some kind of bipolar illness

This. Hawkeye wasn't the only one acting totally out of character under Bendis' writing either. Glad he left for DC to be honest.

    Thanks. That's good to know.

It's possible. I guess that could happen when you work with someone like Cap, who experienced the 2nd World War firsthand.

    Also: Wolverine.

Plus, it wasn't like killing Osborn was his first option. He tried to attack him on TV, make the public see who he really is.

That's because House of M resurrected him. It was reality warping, and he just remembers dying one minute and blinking back into existence the next.

Seconded. I prefer the 90s Hawkeye.

I think Namor is one of them. A lot of writers can never seem to decide how his villainous and friendliness qualities should be balanced out.
