Is X-men name outdated?

The X is the big thing in the name, not Men. X-Force or X-Factor could probably be as successful. And a lot of the XCU movies without the X or Men were more successful. So I don't really buy "Men" being something that can't be changed

Weren't those just solo films starring Wolverine and Deadpool (not even a mutant) which still referred to the characters as "X-Men" in the film anyways (Deadpool visiting the mansion looking for Colossus, X-23's comic books showing the title on the cover as X-Men.) "New Mutants" certainly wasn't more successful than the other films.

If they DID drop it, DC should snag up the X-Men name as retaliation for Marvel stealing "Captain Marvel" away from Billy Batson.

That's kinda my point. The X-name doesn't somehow sell. It's the individual characters. New Mutants failed because it supposedly wasn't good and got delayed too many times. My point is, the "Men" in "X-Men" probably isn't something drawing the general public to these movies.

Not really. That’s an alternate universe, possibly one that has appeared all of one time. How many people even know of this universe much less this team? I’d wager not a whole lot much less enough to make any kind of impact. X-Men meanwhile is a name that even casuals know above anything else within the X-related things.

I think the general audience associate the characters collectively as "X-Men" because that's what the films and franchise are named.

Not sure how you came to the conclusion that the X-name "doesn't sell," X3 and DoFP still made more money than Logan and the Wolverine, and Deadpool isn't a member of the X-Men or even a mutant. Spider-man merchandise outsells the Avengers by a ridiculous margin, but that doesn't mean the Avengers name is poison in the toy aisle.

Changing the franchise flagship name isn't gonna sell well by different names. Comics have been pretty much evident towards about that. Where the audience is far more aware of the children of the atom than cinema.

New Mutants Movie failed because it was a shitty concept from start to finish that had pretty much nothing to do with the storylines,characters or even the concepts from the comic it was supposedly based on.
