Chief gets a standard load out + Cortana. Arbiter gets his sword, carbine and 2 grenades.

I mean his sword is ridiculously powerful but I think he'll have a tough time breaching their overshields and all that.

He's also likely a fair bit faster which will help.

I recall stuff like falling from orbit and being fine, being shot with anti-tank missiles and being fine.

This is all second hand, I've not read the novels myself. I recall their shields being beefy generally. I'm sure Jack can cut through them eventually but it might take a few goes to make it stick.

I don't really know if Jack can get through something that ignores anti-tank missiles.

Unless these shields lose power as they tank stuff, in that case he can wear them down eventually.

But hitting harder than anti-tank missiles?

Chief's armor can survive a fall from orbit, but it requires putting everything into emergency please-don't-die mode, and isn't a sure thing even then. Chief's shields might be able to survive a hit from an anti-tank missile, but that honestly sounds kinda high. Even in the books, his shields can get worn down pretty clearly.

The Arbiter's gear is maybe on par or even a little inferior; sangheli are stronger and tougher than humans, so I'm not sure how much is them and how much is their gear. Either way, he generally performs about as well as John.

I think that this is kind of a stomp, to be honest. Jack is insanely faster and stronger than both of them, so even if their shields can take a hit or two, which is far from a given, they're gonna lose all the same.

Chief (and other Spartans) have survived orbital reentry on numerous occasions, often without needing to "armor lock" or as you put it "please don't die" mode. Noble 6 managed in Reach with slightly inferior armor specs, although his leg was messed up. The opening of Halo: CE has Chief survive a fatal dropship landing. In the books, Fred, Kelly etc fall from orbit without chutes and are up and fighting minutes later. It HURTS but does not incapacitate them. Halo 4, Chief falls from orbit onto Requiem. Halo 2, he is launched through space and onto the frigate at speed.

Arbiter's gear circa Halo 2 was inferior to even standard Sangheili combat harnesses (so also worse then Chief's) but he's had major overhauls by the time of H5. He is presented as Chief's equal in all areas.

Except in cooking delicious meat. He clearly has Chief beat in that area. Master Chief aint no Master Chef
