An old appreciation thread that survived the beginning of 2019 massacre?!?

Is the only thing that saved it the fact that somebody left the letter "R" out of "App(r)eciation!" in the title?

So with the current storyline in GOTG who else gets the feeling that Thanos' consciousness is housed within Eros (Starfox) ?.
With the scars on Eros' face Thanos' way of further punishing Eros due to Thanos' treatment from birth.
I am a Marvel fan preferably cosmic storylines, especially Thanos or Dark Phoenix related, when both the Avengers and the X-Men are involved count me in, loved the original Uncanny Avengers series.
Not a fan of any of the new characters.

That would be me. Whoops! Good eye--I don't think I ever noticed that typo before.

That is my suspicion as well. Eros has been acting oddly in both issues, and when he showed everyone his list of "suspects" to be the 'new Thanos' he never once acknowledged that he himself was a very likely candidate. And we know Thanos has tampered with Eros' mind before, implanting false memories, etc. So yes, it is highly possible that Eros is the one who has been implanted with Thanos' brain patterns!

I wonder what is Starlin's plan for Eros in the OGN.
In Infinity Siblings, he made Eros more like Thanos morally and in Conflict, Adam killed Eros making him undying just like Thanos.
Would Jim also make Eros the new Thanos somehow?

    Marvel Team-Up #142 Jun 1984
"Foiled!" Part 1 of 2. Guest-starring Spider-Man and Captain Marvel.
Peter Parker has been assigned to take photos at the Nassau County Science Exhibition.
As Spider-Man, he snaps photos from the ventilation shaft as the tour guide explains the practical applications of Roxxon's latest invention,
Technafoil, a new highly conductive metal. The reason he is staking out the location as Spider-Man is that supplies of Technafoil have been stolen lately.
While he waits in the vent, and remarks how this caper will be a breeze compared to his recent encounter with the Beyonder on Battlworld.
However, the downtime quickly ends as a bunch of armed guards break into the exhibition hall to steal the Technafoil.
Armed with gelatin knock out bullets, they gun down the tour guide. That's when Spider-Man swings into action, to try and stop the theft.
However, when he starts gaining the upper hand, the thieves suddenly teleport away with the Technafoil.

While in Manhattan, Monica Rambeau -- the Avenger known as Captain Marvel -- spends her time off to visit the Maritime Museum.
Monica is particularly interested in the Windstone jewel, an artifact that is said to have been touched by St. Elmo's fire.
Suddenly, the same men who stole the Technafoil teleport into the room and knock out the guards.
Monica quickly changes into Captain Marvel and confronts the thugs.
Unlike Spider-Man, Captain Marvel fares better due to her ability to transform her body into any form of energy imaginable.
She incapacitates most of the thieves, but one aborts the mission and flees. Captain Marvel turns into her energy form and follows after him,
but when the thief activates his teleportation device, sending himself and his minions away, it also forces Captain Marvel to return to human
form while flying high above the city streets. Struggling to activate her powers, Monica manages to save herself just moments before she
would have fatally hit the ground. Returning the museum, Captain Marvel tells the museum curator that the thieves managed to escape.
Fearing that they will try and steal the Windstone again, the curator agrees to let Captain Marvel take the stone back to
Avengers Mansion for safe keeping. Monica also intends to use this time to figure out what is going on with her powers.

Meanwhile, at the Paulson Foundation, Dr. Eric Paulson tries to find answers from the inside of a bottle and finds none.
It's then that he is informed that his operatives have returned from the field.
He learns from his colleague, Dr. William Lorber, that they secured the needed Technafoil, but failed to obtain the Windstone.
Paulson is furious, as the Windstone is a crucial component needed to operate their Population Reduction by Inter-Dimensional Expulsion Generator.
Lorber explains that while Paulson is worried about their methods for obtaining the materials they need,
it is a necessary evil for the survival of the human race and the planet Earth. Once the PRIDE Generator is completed,
they will be able to teleport over a billion human beings to another dimension. At that moment, atop the Daily Bugle,
Spider-Man arrives and wills his new costume to change into street clothes. He marvels at how his new costume can operate in such a fashion.
Peter Parker then goes down to the Daily Bugle's "morgue" room to check the archives for anything
pertaining to the thieves that he encountered earlier that day. Although he finds nothing in the archives,
he learns from the archive technician about Captain Marvel's encounter with the same crooks and quickly leaves.

A few blocks away at Avengers Mansion, Captain Marvel locks away the Windstone in a safe.
Her teammate, the Eternal known as Starfox, is happy to learn that she has returned so he can go out on a date with the Rockettes.
Captain Marvel is glad to see him go, as there is still uneasiness between the two of them
because Monica had taken the name of his former comrade, the original Captain Marvel.
No sooner is Starfox gone, do the thieves suddenly teleport into the middle of Avengers Mansion.

This time they have come with some projector devices that summon a massive alien creature from another dimension.
While Captain Marvel is busy dealing with this threat, the thieves are able to break into the safe and take the Windstone.

It's at this moment that Spider-Man arrives on the scene. As the pair try to fight off the creature,
they become distracted when they have to save the Avenger's butler, Edwin Jarvis from the creature.
This allows the thieves the time they need to make their escape, but not before Spider-Man manages to tag one of them with a spider-tracer.
Soon, the pair is in a Quinjet and following the spider-tracers signal.

Back at the Paulson Institute, Dr. Lorber installs the Windstone on the PRIDE Generator, completing its construction.
Before Dr. Paulson can bring up the courage to activate the device, he notices the spider-tracer on his minion's leg.
However, this discovery comes too late, as Spider-Man and Captain Marvel come crashing through the wall.
Before a fight can break out, Paulson explains how he wants to try and solve the world's problem by
transporting enough people to another dimension so he can fend off the horrors facing an overpopulated planet.
The two heroes believe this plan is mad and try to stop Paulson from activating the PRIDE.
However, his hired thieves get in the way, allowing Eric to activate the device.
The machine goes haywire, causing portions of other dimensions to randomly appear and disappear in their own reality.
However, Captain Marvel detects that something is wrong and that the device could destroy the entire world.
Spider-Man then leaps up onto the PRIDE and examines the Windstone jewel.
He soon decides to try and use his own body to deflect the energies of the crystal back onto itself.
Although the process is painful, he succeeds in forcing the PRIDE to teleport itself to another dimension, ending its threat.
However, in the aftermath of the battle, Captain Marvel discovers that she is trapped
in her energy form and fears that she may never be able to become human ever again.

Script by David Michelinie. Art by Greg LaRocque (breakdowns) and Mike Esposito (finishes).

The uneasiness between the marvel characters Captain Marvel and Starfox is understandable since Eros was present when Captain Mar-Vell passed away..

    Avengers #245 Jul 1984
    "Bombshells!" Part 2 of 2.
Captain Marvel overtakes the escaping ship, and the Dire Wraith disguised as Dr. Cather is soon being held at gunpoint by the Wasp.
The alien refuses to return to Earth, however, and must strive to control the power levels of the unstable drive
or the craft will explode into anti-matter fragments which would wreak havoc below.

The Vision and Starfox soon join the two female Avengers and take control of the ship,

although the Wraith is hurled into space during the struggle.

Back at the space center, Captain America and the Scarlet Witch discover further Wraith infiltrators, members of the aliens' sorcerous
sisterhood, who have exterminated their scientific brethren, and who are themselves destroyed in the ensuing battle. To the Vision's dismay,
however, responsibility for dealing with further Dire Wraith activities is assigned to S.H.I.E.L.D., rather than the Avengers.
Cameo appearances by Bova, Quicksilver, Lockjaw, Nick Fury, Hawkeye and Mockingbird.
Avengers Lineup: Captain America, Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Starfox, Vision and the Wasp.

Ms. Marvel was out of character in Marvel Team-Up #4... Carol mentioned Starfox and Kamala thought she meant Star Fox 64, the Nintendo game. I thought she was super knowledgeable about the Avengers? Apparently this is one Avenger she's not familiar with.

Not surprised in the least to read this. The marvel character Eros aka Starfox is a white skinned comicbook character whom to me the current regime of marvel comics is only interested to depict the character as an amoral sleazy womanizer, thus not worth being acknowledged to be familiar to 21st century created marvel characters It is INCONCEIVABLE for the marvel character Starfox to be depicted in a marvel comic to be a capable, loyal and caring Avenger.

    Marvel Team-Up #143 Jul 1984
"Shifts and Planes" Part 2 of 2. Guest-starring Spider-Man, Captain Marvel and Starfox.
In order to stop Eric Paulson and William Lorber from transporting a billion people to another dimension in a misguided attempt to save the Earth,
Spider-Man and Captain Marvel forced their PRIDE generator into another dimension itself. However, this has come at a terrible price,
as Captain Marvel is trapped in her energy form. Try as she might, Marvel cannot bring herself to return to human form.
She explains to Spider-Man that her powers are dimensional in nature and that there may be a connection between the PRIDE generator
and her inability to return to human form. Hearing this, Spider-Man theorizes that whenever Captain Marvel changes her form,
her physical body swaps places with the dimension in which her energy forms come from.
He figures that the PRIDE Generator must have caused some kind of interference to prevent the exchange from happening.
All they need to do is create a similar effect. Spider-Man attempts this by activating one of the wrist transporters that
Paulson's minions used to teleport between dimensions. However, this does nothing but send the wrist transporter to another dimension.

It's then that Starfox arrives having captured Dr. Lorber while he was attempting to make his escape.
While filling Starfox in on what happened, they then demand Dr. Lorber explain to them what they need to do to restore Monica to normal.
The doctor explains that they will need travel to the dimension where the PRIDE Generator has been sent
and provided it hasn't been destroyed, shut it down in order to end its interference with Captain Marvel's powers.
Dr. Lorber then programs the transportation devices to take both Spider-Man and Starfox to the other dimension so they can find the PRIDE device.
Upon their arrival, they are soon attacked by a group of male warriors.

Although Spider-Man and Starfox are able to hold their own against their attackers,
the warriors are driven away by a rival faction of female warriors.
Much to their surprise, Spider-Man and Starfox can understand their rescuers because they communicate telepathically.
They learn that they are a clan called the Elysian and that they have been in combat with a rival group calling themselves the Mahko.
Taken to the Elysian village, they learn that this society is one where different tasks are
divided equally between both genders, and that of combat is traditionally that of women.

The Elysian leader, Sondia, explains to the two heroes that the Mahko Clan has been nothing more than
a minor irritant until recently when they gained a new leader, a savage warrior called the Will-Killer.
However, they have been able to hold back the Mahko thanks to the arrival of a strange machine.
As it turns out, this is none of than the PRIDE Generator, which they have used to project
a shield around the Elysian village banishing all those who come into contact to another dimension.
As this is the device they need, later that evening, Starfox concludes that the only way they
can convince the Elyisan's to shut down the PRIDE is by neutralizing the threat of the Mahko.

The pair then sneaks out of the Elyisan camp and fly to the Mahko camp.
There, they challenge the Mahko's to a battle with their leader. Starfox is confident he can easily best the Will-Killer.
However, something in this dimension makes him incredibly ill just moments before the battle.
This leaves Spider-Man to fight the Will-Killer alone. The massive and brutal Will-Killer leaves Spider-Man on the defensive.
However, the massive warrior manages to get in some powerful blows, proving that he is more than a match against Spider-Man.
Ultimately, the wall-crawler wins the battle by flipping the Will-Killer off the edge of a cliff to his demise.

With this, Starfox fights off his illness and sends the rest of the clan fleeing into the wasteland.

The pair returns to the Elysian's and tell them of their victory and they gladly deactivate the PRIDE Generator.
With their mission complete, Spider-Man drags Starfox back to their dimension
before he can delay their return with yet another romantic interlude with Sondia.
The pair narrowly makes it back, but are helped across the dimensional void by Captain Marvel, who has been restored to normal.
With their adventure over, the Captain thanks her two allies for helping her regain control of her powers.

    Starfox deserved better.
The overexposition of his brother, his contant resurrections and attacks againts the universe sucked all the joy out of him.
Bringing back the old, killing the young: that's the Marvel way
