Actually, now that he's said that....I can totally see it! A pair of dark marks on either side of the base of his spine make the eyes for the butt-face, which is smiling at us! lol

I don't have the full panels but

I just love how pleased with himself he looks. I just love how weird Eros is and how he just doesn't caaaaaaare.
Given how sexual a person Eros is, I'm surprised that there are so few scenes with him showing any skin. You've already posted 2 of the only 3 I am aware of--the one of him stripping off his top in Stern's AVENGERS; him getting into the shower in that issue of CAP, and the flashback to his and She-Hulk's hook-up in SHE-HULK. It just seems a bit odd.

The ho-yay is strong in this panel. A ho-yay three-way? Starfox does have a nice ass for a comic book character. But holy crap, Dane is huge here. He's almost bigger than Cap! In recent comics he's gotten thin. But his ass in Original Sins #2 rivals Starfox's.

Also, "tutoring in swordsmanship". Is that what they're calling it these days?

Yeah, that is the other main complaint I see people make against Starfox--his costume and/or hair. Personally, I like his costume...but I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to an update or revamp. Something along the lines of the update Spectrum (Monica Rambeau) got in the new MIGHTY AVENGERS series. It still looks like recognizable with elements of her classic costume--but updated for a sleeker and more modern look. As for Eros' hair...well, it doesn't bother me, but he does have that strange hairstyle that seems oddly common among Marvel Universe men (Quicksilver, Wolverine, Beast, Owl, etc, have all had the same or similar hairdos).

My only worry in giving Starfox a new look is that it stay recognizable as him...unlike the new look ChrisCross gave him in Peter David's CAPTAIN MARVEL series several years ago. I like Cross' art, and he did some cool redesigns for a number of characters in that run (Comet Man and Red Raven in particular looked good), but his Starfox was just too radical a departure, imo. Without the dialogue to identify him, I would never have guessed it was him. It looked more like a space-age David Xanatos (from the GARGOYLES animated series).

What do the rest of you think? Do you guys prefer the classic look, or the Cross look? Would you like to see another redesign?

    Yeah but butts.

Though I suppose it goes for all characters, there's no lack of suggestive poses, as an aside. But I agree, I think he should wear less more often if not just because if it's fitting for any canon character, it's fitting for him. He could be the Nightwing of Marvel, except maybe a little more self-aware of it, and I'd be okay with that.

I also wasn't a fan of ChrisCross's redesign; might as well have been a different character, or Dr. Strange. Too old-looking, too normal-looking; absolutely nothing like the original character, not to mention already dated to late 90s. Regarding the writing, I think his personality was lacking the happy-go-lucky, kind of innocent weirdness that keeps Eros from just being another lothario character, too. I'm not sure I consider that a canon appearance.

I really like his costume because it's so '70s, with the collar and the "peaked shoulders = alien" design, and the little hair-horns (I really love those actually. It's similar to a lot of those haircuts but I find his are appropriately devilish). It actually kind of looks a bit like Thanos's costume, or at least obviously from the same culture. It's also been done without looking particularly silly, especially in the gorgeous Captain Marvel v4 . . .

ok but that last one bc that face. Just look at it.

But I like it because of the campiness that detractors dislike. I can definitely understand a redesign - my one personal stipulation being that his hair still remain extremely red. It's always annoyed me somewhat that his hair is colored so differently so often. As far as I'm concerned it's gotta be ruby-he's-not-human red! Also, the gauntlets. I like those.

He could do with something more regal, maybe, because I think the original intention is there in the design since he and his brother were referred to as princes back in the '70s (and they kind of are).

You know what else I actually wouldn't mind seeing at all, even if in a different universe or something? Bringing back the purple-skin-white-hair thing he had in his first-ever appearance. Obviously that wouldn't happen unless it was MCU or if it was a plot point of some sort ("Oh yeah, by the way guys, I'm actually purple"), but I liked that the Titans were all purple. It'd also give him a more alien, kind of spritely look. You could keep the hair horns and it'd still look like him. I should draw this.

Sorry for three posts in a row but it's for the pictures. I gotta post this whole scene, it's basically a set-up for a porno.

Well, there are four pages. Here's the first.

Poor Starfox was waiting for them to ask "Well what IS your favorite type of exercise?"

(Also just a shout-out because Dane is awesome and I love him)

I'm sure they know what his favorite type is. I sure hope Avengers Mansion has soundproof walls!

Yeah, that entire first section is homoerotic. Bow chicka wow wow. Surely someone has written fanfic based on this issue. If not, they should.

Do it. I'll give you the first two lines of dialogue:

"Gee, Eros, you look horny, and I don't mean your hair."

    "Oooh Mr. Whitman!"

Hey, its Molly . Its nice to see you over here. You a fan of StarFox, too? I don't know if you remember me but I'm from the Nightcrawler thread.

And I love Dane. I didn't realize how bulky he was in those old issues.

Oh, I really like Ero's classic design and I wouldnt mind him keeping it and it does seem tied to his personality but I do wonder if it would hinder him as you suggested. I personally didnt know anyone did not like that aspect but I can see that it may be a turnoff to newer readers who want a more "edgy" look to their superheroes. I dont know... If they give him a new costume I dont want it to stray completely from the original, maybe they can pay tribute to the original but add a more modern twist. I dont know if its possible to be campy and modern and still be appropriately campy, though.

True...but some end up showing better than others.

    That would be fun!

Well, it was a canon appearance in that it is part of continuity. But you're right, Eros wasn't quite his regular self--even in his application of powers. He was using his anti-graviton field to conjure some telekinetic-like effects. But in terms of Eros' personality difference, I think we can chalk that partly up to circumstances--he had some bizarre temporal wound in his throat, and was being manipulated by the villain of the story (whose name was disturbingly similar to Eros' brother's). So given that Eros was in very unusual condition, and under a fair bit of duress, that probably accounts for his odd portrayal. He seemed more like his usual self a few issues later, when he gave Genis that telepathic blocker so that Genis could have sex without Rick Jones getting the visual through their telepathic link, and vice versa.

Honestly, I have never found it silly looking at all. It may be a tad on the simple side, with being mostly red and white, with a few splashes of yellow--but its a look that works, imo.

Lol! I found this in a Google search. Y'know Jude would have played a pretty good StarFox, actually. He may be considered too old now but he is even younger than RDJ but since he is an ancient alien being I guess it would make sense that he look on the mature side.

Brilliant! And then Eros adds- "Is that an Ebony Blade in your pocket or are you happy to see me?"

Hi, Chia Head! I haven't been in the Nightcrawler thread much lately, but I'm sure that will change when #5 comes out. And Dane is just freaking adorable.

Woah, this us turning into a round robin fic. I think this is the first ever fic of Eros.

Yay! Also, yes, Dane is adorable! And just interesting to read about.

So... I'm very curious as to what Remender has in mind for StarFox. Maybe we'll get more info soon.

Then Cap butts in- "My shield isn't the hardest thing in this room, wink wink nudge nudge say no more." Eros and Dane: "OOooooooo, Cap, you tease!"
