Another favorite cop show from the 1970's with one THE baddest opening themes EVER!

Then there's this cop show classic!

"Paranoia Agent" I've listened to this over and over and over. And the creepy "laughing while the world is ending" concept totally captures how unsettling this show was. This could just be a great music video even if it weren't attached to a tv show.

The beloved stop motion intro of the old DDR's UNSER SANDMÄNNCHEN (Our Little Sandman) had a different sequence for each episode. The Little Sandman would travel to a different part of the Warsaw Pact or the greater Soviet sphere of influence or even the Moon, always by different modes of travel, to be greeted by some people in that place who would invite him in to watch the TV, whereupon that episode's kids program would begin, and then in the outro, Unser Sandmännchen would say his goodbyes and depart. Each intro was a one of a kind work of stop motion art--I can just imagine the hours put into each loving detail.
Amazingly, at almost the same time, the BRD created its own stop motion Sandmännchen, but that was never as good and faded away after unification. But Unser Sandmännchen retained his popularity in Germany and the program now continues in repeats--there was even a movie made in 2010.
The intro verse translates as:
Sandman, dear Sandman, it's not yet time!
First we'll watch the evening's greeting before every child must go to bed.
Surely, you have time for that.
And the outro:
Children, dear children, that was fun.
Now, quick, to bed and sleep tight.
Then I will also go and rest. I wish you a good night.
Always thought, even as a kid, that there was something creepy about that intro. But man, it sure as hell makes me feel nostalgic so i guess you can call it a favorite of mine. (Chapi Chapo, watched it in France but it was most likely aired elsewhere)
Oh and if for whatever reason you are wondering what the lyrics mean, well, nothing, it's just gibberish. (chapo sounds like chapeau though, which means hat)
The first TV show I ever knew was THE FRIENDLY GIANT.
For many generations of Canadians, just to hear the "Early One Morning" melody will bring a tear to the eye and memories of long long ago.
