Not sure it has been mentioned, but this intro was my first introduction to Doctor Who. I was transfixed by that mysterious music and face. Same thing happened with the Star Trek the original series intro lol.

Perhaps THE most polarizing anime series ever, fans either love it to pieces or hate it to death, but the opening was kick ass!

In my experience with anime fans, almost everyone loves Eva up to episode 20, and then hates the ending with blazing white hot passion.

Now if you want to talk polarizing animes, Macross 7 is one that truly has no middle ground amongst anime fans. It's either "This is an amazing series! I LOVE IT!" or "This is horrible trash! BURN IT WITH FIRE!".

As one might guess from my username, I am in the love it camp and firmly believe that it produced the best soundtracks (yes, plural) of any anime. Usually, the opening song is one of the best songs in an anime. Seventh Moon is one of the Fire Bomber's mediocre songs, and it's still kick ass:

And here's the opener for the Macross 7 OVA:

It's not as good a song as Seventh Moon, but the opener is still pretty *cough* dynamite.
