    No, not really.

    Actually, it wasn't a "publishing window" of 1940 - 1998 as much as using that time frame in reference to who had joined the Justice Society of America by then. The "1998" endpoint was only because 1999 was when the JSA series was launched and that added many new members to the team.

    Many of those later members are covered in a separate thread, JSA/Justice Society of America Poll: favorite members (from 1999-2008).

    The Trinity for me (Alan Scott, Jay Garrick, Ted Grant)though there aren’t any characters I really dislike except the Jill Carlyle Crimson Avenger.

    Calling those three "The Trinity" strikes me as wrong.
    Ted Grant was never a regular/full member during the Golden Age. He appeared in just two issues of the All Star Comics run.

    Now, Hawkman (or possibly The Atom) I could see in place of Wildcat in a JSA "Trinity".

    Just MO. Johns set them up as the JSA’s Trinity; they’ve been The Trinity for over twenty years and i liked it then, like it now.

    Carter has pretty much been ousted from the core three of the JSA, for good or ill. Personally, a JSA without Hawkman feels wrong, but Ted took the spot Carter would have filled for most people's JSA Trinity because of the strength of the Johns run where Carter shows up nearly two years in. He's a central player, to be sure, but Ted had solidified himself as a stalwart mainstay.

    Kind of like how Alfred Pennyworth didn't really resemble the Alfred we know until much later, but most consider him core to Batman operating, moreso than Robin who debuted five years prior.

    my three faves are in the top 4 so I can't complain, never was as much of a Jay fan but he is the one most closely tethered to the current DCU so it makes sense.

    The members listed on each of those polls were only those who first became members of the Justice Society of America during the Golden Age (starting with All Star Comics #3 in 1940) up to before the 1999 relaunch of the JSA in JSA Secret Files #1.

    So, the following were the top seven vote-getters (in alphabetical order) among the regular members during the Golden Age run (1940-1951):
    * Black Canary (Dinah Drake Lance)
    * Doctor Fate (Kent Nelson)
    * Dr. Mid-Nite (Charles McNider)
    * The Flash (Jay Garrick)
    * Green Lantern (Alan Scott)
    * Hawkman (Carter Hall)
    * The Sandman (Wesley Dodds)
    ...
    Did you look at the original poll results (https://community.cbr.com/showthread...egular-members)?
    At the time I ended that original poll count, The Spectre was the third-lowest vote-getter. (Only Al Pratt and Johnny Thunder had fewer votes for their group.)
