Default Do The Hellboy Books Address Other Gods?

    Hello all,

I am just getting into Hellboy because it ended, I was just curious do the books address any other pantheon at all? For example, like the Norse, Greek, Hindu, Aztec, or others? Or it only Abrahamic faiths?

Yes, all of those you listed and more.

I think of all the pantheons you listed there, the actual Abrahamic God is featured the least, although there is plenty of God adjacent stuff (with devils and priests in abundance.) As you read, this will become more clear, but the existence of God is kind of an underlying and very unspoken question in the Hellboy canon. It's a question I'd like to see explored more. As you read more we should discuss further.

Amazing! Thank you! I am so happy they decided to release everything into giant omnibuses it makes it so much easier to get through. I look forward to being on these boards especially since my interest in the big two have been waining.

Hi all, I didn't want to create a new thread so I thought I'd ask in my previous thread.

So I just began reading Hellboy Omnibus volume 1 (which I am loving!), my question to you is if I only read the 4 Hellboy Omnibuses, BPRD Omnibuses (Plague of Frogs & Hell on Earth), and the 3 TPB of Hellboy & The BPRD will I be getting the full story of Hellboy's saga?

You should really pick up the two omnibuses of Hellboy: The Complete Short Stories as well. There's a few stories in there that start becoming pretty important by the time you get to the third Hellboy omnibus. The Abe Sapien series ties in with B.P.R.D., but that's more about getting the complete B.P.R.D. story than it is about getting the complete Hellboy story.

Ah, I see. So with the Short Storie Omnibuses, that would give a pretty holistic view on the Hellboy mythos?

I think so. By the time you get to B.P.R.D.: Hell on Earth, you may find yourself so caught up in the story you'll want to pick up Abe Sapien, but that's entirely up to you. Abe Sapien certainly delves into areas of the mythology that other titles don't. Oh, and I completely forgot, you'll want to get Koshchei the Deathless to read in between Hellboy in Hell and B.P.R.D.: The Devil You Know. It's really fantastic. You'll love it.

Awesome! Thank you, I wish that the Mignolaverse had volume numbers or a official reading order it make things easier to follow.

    Thanks for all the help!

They've always resisted an "official" reading order, because there's so many entry points to the world and none are really wrong. But Scott Allie and I put together a reading order back in 2014 which I revisit annually to update. These days I revise it with notes from editor Katii O'Brien.

It includes links to other reading orders too down the bottom.

Ah, I see; I can understand that.

The Multiversity reading order is cool but it is so confusing because it has everything ever, so it makes it hard to follow a singular path. Nevertheless, I will continue on; I feel like I want to spend an entire weekend binging through everything.

There's the simplified order near the top for the core material.
