Default That Creator Was Clearly On Drugs!

I've been reading Giffen's Dr. Fate (1987). While I make no accusations, I have to wonder just what kind of chemicals the esteemed author/illustrator might have been ingesting.

It's so trippy it makes my brain hurt.

What about you? What have you read that makes you wonder about a creator's recreational habits?

    Lol. Beat me to it.

Also Moore's Swamp Thing got pretty trippy.

Azzerello's Superman run with Jim Lee in 2003 was also incoherent.

Deadman: Love After Death, wherein Boston Brand is retconned to have molested his cousin.

I kid you not, this was approved by editorial.

I loved Gerber's Zauriel one-shot. He managed to take something Morrison created, and make it even trippier.

Yes absolutely, Batman Odyssey was a cocaine-fueled fever dream set to paper. I have never seen anything like it before or since.

I'm not familiar with this one, Googled, didn't see a summary so read a review. The review was funny, but I still have no idea what this story is about.

If Giffen's mini leaves you with that impression just wait until you get to J M DeMatteis' stuff,

IIRC, J M Dematteis wrote the Keith Giffen mini too.
