Default That Creator Was Clearly On Drugs!

I've been reading Giffen's Dr. Fate (1987). While I make no accusations, I have to wonder just what kind of chemicals the esteemed author/illustrator might have been ingesting.

It's so trippy it makes my brain hurt.

What about you? What have you read that makes you wonder about a creator's recreational habits?

    Lol. Beat me to it.

Also Moore's Swamp Thing got pretty trippy.

Azzerello's Superman run with Jim Lee in 2003 was also incoherent.

Deadman: Love After Death, wherein Boston Brand is retconned to have molested his cousin.

I kid you not, this was approved by editorial.

I wanna say GL: Mosaic but, given things that came to light later, there were clearly....other vices at play as well as any chemical ones.

I think I read a book that talked about how "psychedelic" the offices were during the Silver Age .

Moore had to be smoking something while writing Promethea too.

Loved that book. SO weird and brilliant.

Yup - I was going to say Promethea, too. I liked it, but it was a whole new kind of weird.

And even though Grant Morrisson has already been mentioned, his Animal Man deserves a special mention. "I can see you!" Nuff said.

Morrison's Doom Patrol, especially the last part where he was literally using LSD by his own admission.

If Giffen's mini leaves you with that impression just wait until you get to J M DeMatteis' stuff,

For some reason, it's hard for me to think of Promethea (who I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE) as a DC book.

Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko certainly seemed to be on drugs though I think Ditko was just high on Ayn Rand.
