I love this idea!
1. Spider-Man - In this version, the Fantastic Four have gone missing and Spider-Man organizes a team to find them + fill in for them while they are gone. Spider-Man is best fit to be the leader because he knows the FF personally, plus he is in many ways the best of Reed and Johnny put into one. He would at first feel awkward taking initiative to create a team but does it anyway because no one else would do it and because it is the responsible thing to do.
2. Emma Frost - The blonde powerhouse of the team, but a cold contrast to Sue's personality. She and Peter have a lot in common - they both come from a working-class background, were bullied as kids, worked as teachers and use snark to cope with their pain. Another reason it can be interesting is that it essentially flips the Reed/Sue dynamic. In this case Peter is the more emotionally intelligent one who connects with kids, while Emma gets lost in her head more and has more of a "tough love" attitude towards her students. They have enough similarities and differences that it can be interesting.
3. Luke Cage - The Thing stand-in. They are both strongmen with a big heart that grew up in rough neighborhoods in New York. Unlike The Thing, though, he would face more discrimination due to his skin color and the fact he isn't as big of a celebrity. It would be an opportunity to explore how race and class influence people's perception of someone.
4. H.E.R.B.I.E. - As an in-joke for the fact he replaced the Human Torch in a 70s cartoon . In all seriousness, I think he can handle all the computer stuff. If not, then Rocket Raccoon would also be a good alternative. He is a mechanic like Johnny, is hot-headed, and is connected to outer space.
Fantastic Force:
Torch
Iceman
Firestar
Spiderman
With Spider-Woman filling in for Torch on main team.
Yellow Jacket (Hank)
Wasp (Nadia)
Ant Man Scott
Stinger
No job too big or too small
A short lived WWII team that’s never officially given a name in-story, but that story’s called “The Fantastic Four”, so yeah! Thin man has a super secret mission to perform, and recruits three other heroes who’s powers and skill sets are what he needs to get the job done.
THIN MAN
Has the pliability, AND the scientific aspect on lock. He’s got tremendous knowledge of the advanced sciences and technology of Kalahia, the lost Himalayan civilization where he got his powers.
ROCKMAN
He may be the leader of Abyssmia, an underground civilization descended from the first colonists of North America, or, he may be completely delusional. Either way, Rockman is def. superhuman, having super strength and speed as well as a high level of invulnerability and great combat skills. Thin Man needs all that.
TORO
The youngest of Thin Man’s recruits, Toro is a strong team player, having partnered w. The Human Torch, and been a member of The Invaders, Kid Commandos, Young Allies, and The All-Winners Squad.
GHOST GIRL
The Scottish superheroine has a belt using technology Thin Man finds impressive. With it, she can generate a holographic "ghost" double of herself and mentally manipulate it to confuse her enemies.
She-Hulk
Wasp
