Not exactly. But there was a pointed effort made to demonstrate that, apart from the Zero Year suit, Batman had only ever worn the New 52 suit. All flashbacks, regardless of the era, featured Batman wearing the New 52 suit.

I think Grant Morrison even complained somewhere that in Batman Inc # 2, when he had a flashback to the classic Ra's al Ghul stories from the 70's, he was forced to show Batman in the New 52 suit rather than the classic Neal Adams design. I think a trade paperback released after the New 52 ended 'corrected' the suit by featuring the Neal Adams version.

My vote is that it should stay in continuity, and it should make a more or less permanent return. It is iconic, it is timeless, and it looks a lot good whether the costume is blue & gray, gray & black, or all black.

Funny that this old thread should come up again, considering that Joshua Williamson's new run is bringing the yellow oval back again!

I do get a feeling the oval will be getting some love over the next year or so...especially since Keaton's Batman is going to be sporting it in Flashpoint next year as well.

Actually, that looks more like the Batman Inc. version
as opposed to the traditional yellow oval (which first appeared in 1964).

Yeah...my point was that the yellow oval is back. And its great that it's being incorporated into more modern designs!

The oval is fine. The only costume element that needs to be excised from the continuity is the same one they needed to excise decades ago - the dark undies. But the yellow oval I like.

I'm ok with the yellow oval for a while . I do prefer the " Hush " era Bat symbol overall with no undies .

Of course it should be part of his history. He should go through several costumes throughout the years.

I don't see any good reason to remove it. So I say keep it.
