I found Lost Light confusing as hell, its sitting on the Cut Line right not.

Optimus and Taro are prefectly fine for jumping into for new readers. I don't think Revolution had any real effect on the series and not completely necessary needed to enjoy any of the series.

I'm going back to my childhood and starting to read a whole bunch of Transformers comics, after picking a few up on the Comixology sale (a 50% offer is on at the moment!).

Any suggestions on resources to keep me on the right track? I've been reading MTMTE and RID, and am keen to read before and after that, but not really bothered about the other series.

I'll start by reading this thread from the start (minus spoilers)...

I have both of those in my Comixology library, but haven't read them yet. Read Megatron Origins, but wasn't that impressed.

With the exception of Last Stand and maybe a few others... the line doesn't really get real quality work until Death of Optimus and then MtMtE and RiD/TF

I've read the first three collected volumes of both MtMtE and RiD, so the standard has been set pretty high!

Are there any that I definitely should not miss from a continuity point, so the latter stuff makes sense?

Earlier stuff? I mean I enjoyed All Hail Megatron... but aside from Last Stand of the Wreckers and Sins of the Wreckers (which is much more recent), you've pretty much started at the right spot.

Some other canon gems:

Transformers 22 and 23 - Orion Pax as beat cop
Megatron Origin - gladiator rebellion
Autocracy and Monstrosity - the origin of Optimus Prime and the Decepticons
Transformers Spotlight - every issue featuring a different character used later
Heart of Darkness - Galvatron sets up Chaos
Chaos issues 24 thru 31 - the event just previous to RiD & MtMtE; lots of elements used later in Dark Cybertron

Ah yes! I definitely second Chaos and Chaos Theory. One of the few older stories that seems to have a lasting impact.

Right now, there's Optimus Prime (which is a relaunched Transformers) and Lost Light (which is a relaunched More than Meets the Eye). A third main title, Til All Are One, was launched several months before Revolution. It deals with all of the happenings on Cybertron. It's a fun read.

So, Lost Light is Rodimus and co., Til All Are One is basically Robots in Disguise with Bumblebee and co, and there's now the third Optimus Prime title. Interesting.

(I'm presuming those characters are all still in it - I'm only three volumes into RiD and MTMTE!)
