Hickman shines brightest when he's developing the world and the mythos. It would really be nice to see mutants return to form and have their own mythos other than extinction plots or omega-level mutant madness plots.

So long as editorial doesn't do something like make an event called "Days of Future Past, Present, and Future: Someone Buy Us a Clock", I'll be excited.

Cautiously optimistic, but just a little worried that the X-Men will come out of it not being the X-Men I know and love. Not thrilled after hearing who Hickman's favorite X-Men are, which reveals enough about him to make me nervous.

Extremely excited! If there’s anybody I trust with this team and shake things up it’s him

In the past, Hickman was pretty vocal that he wouldn't want to write the X-Men because there were too many editorial dictates.

So, I figure the fact that he's taking over means he has a good relationship with the editorial staff in the office now at the very least, if not some contractual assurances.

    Exactly.

We live in a world where a guy got a "Veto" on "Wonder Woman" covers, but folks don't buy into that Hickman would sign on with that sort of thing in place.

Can you link the twitter thread? I'd be interested to read the exchange.

Hickman's X-Men is the most excited I've been about the franchise in a good long time.

This is the main thread, created not long after having a lengthy discussion with myself and others in the Cyclops Appreciation Thread. It's fairly clear which two characters the poll is referring to.

    From that thread...

And I really am just asking for curiosity--this isn't going to affect any of our plans. I am sure we can all think of numerous examples of both, both are "valid" choices, I am just asking what YOU would prefer for your fave.

Cautious Optimism. I liked Hickman's material in Secret warriors so...Here's hoping.

His favorites are here. And it was fav. mutants, not X-Men. lol A crucial detail considering one of them.

Everyone pointed out how that one wasn't a mutant, but Hickman just responds to watch him work.

Importantly, he also refers to Emma by her villain name.
