I LOVE that scene, especially when the "animation" from the TV commercial parodied the Superfriends.

As soon as they all land outside the headquarters there's all this commotion and hubbub while they talk to each other and the only thing Captain Atom is on about is Mary. "Can someone please tell her I'm not dangerous to be around?!"

Poor guy was so hurt, lol.

During Countdown Didio had Mary become corrupted and become evil. She got the all black costume.

But that wasn't even the worst of it. During final Crisis they made her go full blown psycho with pink hair and half a shaved head. Was pretty bad.

I believe Bob Oksner drew only two Mary Marvel stories in the 1970s, but his version of Mary is my all-time favorite.

I hated evil Mary as much as the next guy, but in her defense she *was* under the influence of one of the Apokolips New Gods. Desaad, I think it might've been? And before that, in Countdown, wasn't it Black Adam who twisted her mind with corrupted power? So she wasn't really herself. It's basically just one big long "hero gets mind controlled" story, and every hero has gone through that.

    But gods, it was awful.

Hey, do we know what Mary and Freddy (and the other kids) are calling themselves now that Billy isn't Captain Marvel anymore? Mary Shazam? She-Shazam?
"We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another, as if we were one single tribe."

I hope they're not going with something like "Ms. Shazam!".

    Shezam.

(just kidding. Let's not give DC any ideas.)
