Based on the preview pages, it looks like Lemire is giving you what you asked for.

Well, first issue of The Question by Lemire and Cowan is out! What do people think?

It's a good start. The dialogue reminds me of O'neil and rorschach.

I thought Wesley and Myra were married in O'neill's run. Or were they siblings as well?

The supernatural hook is more in the background. The main case has a ripped from the headlines feel.

You are collect, in the O'Neil run Wesley's priest forced myra to marry Wesley using her daughter as leverage to stay in line, while vic was off training with richard dragon. Myra stays married to welsey until his eventual death, after she becomes mayor of hub city. Now interestingly enough in the new 52 trinity of sin preview, Trinity-question saves Myra's daughter from kidnappers and was stated to operating in hub city. This seems to have been retconned out for the series, with the change to myra's sibling status.

Tonally, this is a lot like the O'Neil run, but character-wise, I can see elements of everything from Ditko to Veitch. Sage even has a JLU-style "crazy wall".

But he's also utterly unlikeable. I can't say I enjoyed this issue.

As a Question "outsider," this felt very similar to the issues of O'Neil Question I've read - helped a ton by powerful art by Cowan - but as I don't really resonate with O'Neil's Question, this didn't resonate quite with me, either.

Someone in the shop mentioned that he thinks Lemire is a "hotter" writer than O'Neil and Rucka at this time, which intrigued me. Any Question fans think that Lemire is bringing something to the title in terms of name recognition and reputation than Rucka or O'Neil wouldn't (since both of the latter are still working).

I do - he's got the "hot hand" right now and him working on this is likely to get more attention. It also has the appeal of potentially showing us something new. With O'Neil or Rucka, some might feel it would just be a retread of stuff they've done unless something else (like the art team or the premise) were able to get people excited to try it out. The Question isn't a big enough name that he doesn't need to draw in new people, and one thing that excites people is a top creative talent on a character that people have at least some interested in, and just need that bit of prodding pull the trigger.
