Anyone remember this animated movie?

I remember seeing stuff from Russia on TV in the 1970s, if not in the 1960s--usually on PBS. I distinctly remember the live action IVAN THE TERRIBLE (1944) from Segei Eisenstein.

When I was searching the list of E. European animated movies, I saw STEPAN THE SAILOR, but I dismissed it since from the title and the run time it didn't seem like the one. Now I feel stupid that I didn't give it a closer look.

Wickipedia says these films were marketed by Bill Clayton, a boxing promoter who manage Mike Tyson (!) and director/writer Fred Ladd. Mostly from Soyuzmultfilm studio and the Czech science-fantasy film known in America as Journey To The Begining Of Time, with terrific (for the time) special and natural effects!

Disney channel aired overseas cartoon movies in the 80s also like the unico movies and jack and the witch (anyone remember that one!) from japan and even a (I think) a france gullivers travel cartoon movie with gulliver as a little boy (no ties to the hanna barbera cartoon).

They have a few lucky luke movies also. Disney even released a few on vhs in the early 80s!

Regarding non American animated films I've been binge watching my Princess Mononoke dvd, and with the exception of the original Beauty and the Beast I think it beats hands down most 'latter day' Disney animated movies.
At the same time here across the pond, a man who wanted to put a picture of Spiderman on his young son's grave has been prevented by doing so by the Disney corporation.
Sign of the times, I guess.
