Quick side note on the telepathy thing. It really sucks that the X-Men don't all wear Magneto helmets to block out telepaths. Come on, they've been fighting telepaths for how long?
But thats not fair play. Only villains shield themselves from our telepathic overlords.

Except that time Jean got an entire army to wear the helmets to stop Cassandra Nova.

I mean, Quentin Quire found plans for them on the internet. I really find it hard to believe they weren't available.

Quire found plans for them on the internet? Who uploaded them and in what book can I read that story in?

It was during Grant Morrison's New X-Men. I believe it was the Riot at Xavier's storyline where Quentin found an anti-telepathy helmet blueprint on the internet and reverse engineered to to prevent Professor X from using telepathy to stop his, well, riot at Xavier's.

Tony Stark manufactured them and it took him a week. So Cassandra Nova was twiddling her thumbs for a week while the x-men waited for those helmets. Wonderful plotting

Hard to believe it's the same Nova that destroyed a large chunk of the Shi'Ar, and murdered 16 million mutants.

    It's basically required though.

Most X-Men are easy to kill -- a sniper would suffice -- so we can't really have competent villains that attack at their own convenience.

But that kinda works both ways. No way with all the telepaths and access to alien tech would they leave themselves vulnerable to sniper fire outside of it being PIS...

Most criminals are dumb; if they were smart, they wouldn't be criminals. But there's a difference between that and having previously competent villains and heroes simply forget stuff they did before or act unbelievably stupid for a plot to work.

Sure, but they have to stay on their guard all the time and never let it down. Such a situation always favor the attacker. No more girl's nights out on town for example, better stay locked up in that bunker. And easy enough to cloak snipers from telepaths in the MU.

He's not wrong. The X-men may have been created first but this wasnt a concept that was a part of their mythos for the 60 or so years they've been around since now. Its just like people calling the Inhumans a ripoff of X-men when Terrigenesis became a global phenomenon and they were adopting many of the X-men's concepts a few years ago
