I expect this book to follow a similar format to Waid' Black Widow MAXI, so essentially interweaving the past and the present to inform you about the storyline as it progresses. The initial issue has me interested to see this through and Waid's work with Black Widow has me confident that he'll properly convey Who Sue is and why she does what she does.

Why not? Ultimate Nick Fury is the best Nick Fury ever made.

This was more of a set-up and introductory issue. It was mainly to give background on the character and give her the goal of saving her old partner. The future dilemma it sets up on whether she will break her morals and actually kill is an interesting one. I'm interested in seeing how it plays out.
She broke her morals in Age of Ultron and allowed Wolverine to kill Pym. There is some precedent for thinking Sue is not beyond killing.
