Carnage doesn’t seem to be killing the hosts of previous the carnage symbiote, instead he seems to be using what’s already there to create more versions of carnage. By that logic, Ben won’t die but turn into spider-carnage instead. SS seems to have a bigger role later for Cates given that SS is currently taking a beating from knull in his own book.
