I'm trying to think of a female comedian who can do "loud and manic" well, and I just can't.

Will they need one? I'd guess soon as the Mask goes on, it will be 100% CGI. They can use anyone for the motion capture and alter the voice to whatever they want.

Did anyone actually see Mask 2? :P

I'm one of five people who did. I thought it was pretty good. Oh nowhere near as good as the first Mask but good in its own right. Basically a man's anxiety and eventual acceptance over being a father. Ah and Odin (Bob Hoskins) accepting his son Loki (Alan Cummin) just the way he is. We got Jamie Kennedy in the Mask for one sequence, I wish the movie had more of that.

That does seem to be the case, yeah.

I saw the latest Ghost Busters and Ocean's 8 and thought they were good, but I do think that they limit themselves by making gender swap a good with comedy reboots. Humor can be, but isn't always, non gender specific. I guess we'll see.

And thrive or fail, who cares? Did anyone actually see Mask 2? :P

The question will be do they have a good script and direction, or is it going to be something mediocre that gets defended by the genderflip rather than any level of quality? Ocean's Eight was supposed to be pretty good, and I have seen good female-led films in the past, so I know it can be done.

I can't think of any female actor or comedian that could deliver Jim Carrey's manic energy, which is what sells the character.

I agree. He made The Mask one of the best super hero movies of all times. (Robin Williams did the same for Popeye.)
