Damn Skippy!
He did not write the Phoenix at its inception. He did not write the Phoenix when Jean held it. Or even when Rachel held it. He understands nothing of the Phoenix, other than it's a Cosmic Force.
All he's doing is tacking on retcons...and doing so, badly...just to have it fit into his story.
His editors only allowed him to use the PF because he's Aaron...not because he actually understood or cared about the PF.

everything Morrison and Aaron wrote should be ignored and completely forgotten
I don't know. I kinda liked that whole White Phoenix of the Crown thing, and the whole Lantern Corp thing he had going there. Certainly a departure from what Claremont was doing to begin with, but when you consider some of his Rachel Phoenix stories(and things like his Captain Britain omniversal corp), maybe it's not incompatible.
Let the flames destroy all but that which is pure and true!
If Scott had remembered to pick up some last-minute munchies during Decimation, he could've used them to bring mutantkind back and dodge both the space flamingo and the Avengles.

Most Lord Claremont/Byrne Iron Fist comics are about a socially inept ballerina bumbling and then kung-fu-ing his way through the Marvel Universe, but in Iron Fist (1975) #15 specifically, he gets into a wild scrap with Wolverine, Elf Boi, and Big Boi that leads to Storm getting cosmically and spiritually annihilated by a potato salad. Pretty S+ tier funny books.

Context is king.
X-23's most basic surface level characteristic that any idiot should grasp: Stoicism.
I don't demand that her every minor appearance be a nuance in-depth examination of her character, but is it to much to ask she be written in Archetype?! This is storytelling 101! If you want people to stay invested in a character, you need to, at the bare minimum, write them such a way that they can plausibly be believed to be the same character!
