It's hard to gauge how major his role will be without much information. I was reminded of the slew of casting news for characters that kept cropping up.
For all we know, he could be playing anyone from Ganke's dad or Roderick Kingsley. Although given the success of Crazy Rich Asians (not that they may have been aware of this prior to the casting), I would imagine they'll go for a "leading role."
Off-hand he looks like he would've been a more natural fit for Jimmy Woo then who they ended up casting as Jimmy Woo.
thing is, he was cast months ago and has been in the uk rehearsing/filming for ages. it's only that this has been publicly announced now, so the success of CRA has little impact (but go see it anyway!).
i can tell you 100%, the role is not someone's dad. not my place to say more.

He strikes me as someone who could do better then Hydro-Man .
Although even if he is Hydro-Man, I don't see him doing much more then as a villain Spidey tangles with for a few minutes as a teaser since I don't see Bench getting involved in the globe-trotting exploits of Mysterio (and maybe Chameleon).
Ah, but Shang's awesome. I was bummed he really didn't pop up in Netflix's Iron Fist like he was said too
feel the music

I'm glad for the international setting. I'm not in the camp of "NYC must be a co-character in any Spider-Man story" narrative. Spider-Man can be Spider-Man anywhere.
