Default Cover Contest 7/10 thru 7/16 Mike Allred Covers

Thanks again for the votes folks.

This week we're doing covers by Michael Allred.

He has a distinctive style that some might describe as quirky or kitsch. I've always been fond of it.
    Here's my submission:

    THE RULES:
Post one (and only one) cover that fits the theme of this week's contest.
Cover must be from a published comic book or collected volume.
Covers must be posted before voting begins.
It's ok to vote for the OP if you like their cover.
Voting begins 12 AM Tuesday and runs until 12 AM Wednesday PST.
Vote by posting the name in bold of the poster whose cover best fits the theme or that you simply like the most. A vote need not be in bold, but it does make it easier to tally votes.
The winner of the contest is the entrant with the most votes after the voting period.
It's okay to discuss the covers but if you think someone's entry doesn't fit the theme or violates the rules don't argue it in the thread - simply don't vote for it.
Occasionally voting will result in a tie, in which case a tie breaking vote will be required from someone who has not yet voted.

More importantly, remember that we're here to have fun. Enjoy!

I wasn't a big fan of Allred, mainly because i just didn't read comics he drew, not because I didn't like his art, but more that they weren't within my current area of comic reading.
That said, i am very impressed by these covers. Very crisp style with a great sense of composition.
And speaking of which, I vote for Guicho for that wonderfully designed pinball cover.

After some agonizing rounds of eeny meeny miny moe...

MRP (for a great mashup of characters)

Honorable mention shouts to MajorHoy and Nschornhorst. Kirby101 and ed2962 helped make the choice even more challenging with those David Bowie covers.

That brunette was supposed to be Princess Diana, but Marvel and Peter Milligan were forced to drop her and create a brand new character… for obvious reasons.

Love it, he has a very crisp, retro pop-art style.
hard not to go with his own Madman! But I absolutely love this trippy retro Avengers Pinball.

Congratulations to Güicho for their choice of a marvelous cover combining a pop culture retro game with a futuristic synthetic man. Very nice cover.

And now, what could the captain possibly have learned this week? He has, as with many contests, had his original thoughts about the theme expanded. Now this week is an unusual circumstance in that I was more aware of his "offbeat" work than I was his standard superhero stuff. Learning something new every week.

And thanks go out to icctromone for the vote.
