Default Your Pick for the Saddest Moments in DC History

Let's play a game that's gonna depress all of us. I want you all to recall what issue of a DC comic book series you read that really just...hit you in the feels. In other words, what gets your vote for the saddest comic book in the history of DC Comics?

My vote has got to go to Gotham Central #38-39, the murder of Crispus Allen.

I'm actually also gonna give honorable mentions to Green Lantern #55 (Dex-Starr's origin) and New Teen Titans #16 when Starfire is crying over Franklin Crandall's death.

    How about you guys?

    A couple spring to mind.

The death of Sarah Gordon in No Mans Land hit me like a kick to the balls.
And the death of Krypto in Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?

    Both stuck with me.

When Jon Kent came back as a 17 year old, with Lois and Clark both being awful parents leading up to that moment.

Haven't been able to read a Super book since. So much potential for storytelling, so many stories and adventures, all to be tossed away within the new author's first arc/mini of taking over.

Ted Knights death in Starman and Tim Drakes dad (Jack) in Identity Crisis. Both were a punch to the gut.

Guy and Fire fail to bring back Ice from the dead in "Formerly Known as Justice League" (Seriously WTF a comedy book ends up with you bawling at the end of it)

The first and foremost would be the death of Supergirl during the original Crisis. I remember reading that series as it was published.

A close second would be Ralph's grief during Identity Crisis. Whatever flaws that mini-series had, its depiction of his grief was spot-on.

The grief of Lois, the Kents, and Lana after the death of Superman was depicted well also. In that case, there was no question that the death was temporary. At least with the first two above, you know they were permanent or long-term.
