Default Cover Contest 7/17 - 7/23; Let the games begin....

Inspired by the Mike Allred cover win last week.
Covers featuring or inspired by arcades and their games, (kids ask your parents what an arcade was, for those born after the 80's yes home video game consoles and themes allowed)

Sample ^ Don't vote for, won last week

    THE RULES:
You must insert a quarter to play!

Post one (and only one) cover that fits the theme of this week's contest.
Cover must be from a published comic book or collected volume.
Covers must be posted before voting begins.
It's ok to vote for the OP if you like their cover.
Voting begins 12 AM Tuesday and runs until 12 AM Wednesday PST.
Vote by posting the name in bold of the poster whose cover best fits the theme or that you simply like the most. A vote need not be in bold, but it does make it easier to tally votes.
The winner of the contest is the entrant with the most votes after the voting period.
It's okay to discuss the covers but if you think someone's entry doesn't fit the theme or violates the rules don't argue it in the thread - simply don't vote for it.
Occasionally voting will result in a tie, in which case a tie breaking vote will be required from someone who has not yet voted.

More importantly, remember that we're here to have fun. Enjoy!

And the winner, at the end can exchange your coupons for a small cheap (probably toxic) plush or plastic toy, at the counter.
    Good Luck!

There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

I can neither confirm nor deny that I spent too much time in the arcades as a kid.

Another game classic, though maybe at the tail end of the period… and still as addictive as when it was new.

«Speaking generally, it is because of the desire of the tragic poets for the marvellous that so varied and inconsistent an account of Medea has been given out» (Diodorus Siculus, The Library of History [4.56.1])

I hate to be 'that guy', but that's not an actual comic.

Thanks foxley. This is one of those times when it's good to have "that guy" lend their more experienced eye. I actually have another cover in the stash that I can post.

Congratulations to Kirby101 for a marvelous cover putting the X-Men in a situation that we might expect to see Batman in in the old days. A nice mix of retro and modern.

What has the captain learned this week? He has learned about the old-school status of the arcade, specifically the Pac-Man (and then Mrs. Pac-Man) machine at the bowling alley. They were a spot where friends and frenemies could gather is contests of skill. It was a different time, and although the same attitudes and philosophies occur online (or so I'm told), I miss those days of face to face interaction. I don't miss pumping quarters into a device though.

Thanks to SquirrelMan for the vote. I also regret not giving them an Honorable Mention for the Doreen cover. I apologize, fellow nut.

There is no rule saying you can't use old contest themes-- we did so in the past. I was gone awhile, so unless something's changed, it should be fine. Also, when I looked at the list, the contest in question, I think was last year. I think even if it had been the same, it would've been perfectly acceptable.

Also, the OP's cover presented can totally be voted for in their contest. You don't have to disqualify yourself unless you want to.
