Ideal Lineup for a Birds of Prey Team

Occasional appearance by Rene Montoya. I’m actually not a fan of her as The Question but maybe she could be their contact in the GCPD.

My guess is Montoya's going to be their Commissioner Gordon in the film.

I think the members should met the following criteria:

- female
- adult
- non or "low" powered
- must be able to do undercover and spy stuff

And I would also go for Barbara, Dinah and Helena as core.

After that, I'm open to see what people would do with different characters. If Oracle we're still around, then absolutely Babs should be in the book but I don't think the dynamic of Batgirl in the book works.
I like seeing Dinah and Helena together and always enjoy Zinda but mixing it up and adding fresh blood can create fun and interesting results too.

Black Canary is the most important member of the team to me.

As long as Dinah's there I'm cool with pretty much anyone else. I do prefer them to have a "bird" motif though.

Other heroes could be called on for specific missions. Female and bird themed would be greatly preferred, but neither would be an absolute requirement.

I'd consider Ted Kord as a recurring tech/gadget guy and mechanic. He isn't being used anywhere else, at least as far as I know. He would have retired as Blue Beetle, so he could occasionally throw the tights back on for a mission. Beetles can fly, so he sort of fits the avian theme.

I think Hawkgirl and Dove would be a cool dynamic. Have Hawk girl as the more aggressive warrior but with experience and knowledge. Then have Dove as the book smart, maybe more tech savy, one but more naive and inexperienced.

Black Canary could be in there as well but as the leader and mediator when they clash too much. She would be more in the background.

I don't think any male heroes should be a part of the team as being an all female team is one of the main foundations of BOP.

Black Canary, Huntress and Oracle/Batgirl are the ''Big Three'' for me.

Outside of those three it's really a matter of whoever fits the direction that the creative team is going with for BoP.

Everyone else can rotate in and out. Harley, especially a classic flavor one, could be an interesting addition as long as she's not the focus. Renee, Catwoman, Batwoman and Vixen would be top choices as well.

I think I'd like to revise my ideal lineup slightly.

Proxy - Taking over the Oracle role, maybe even the name. We all know they aren't going to but Barbara back in the chair or the Oracle identity.

Hawk & Dove - Hank & Dawn empowered by Chaos & Order. I'd have them balance each other, but none of the co-dependent "Hawk is nuts without Dove" would be included. I'd have them be either full-time or recurring. I love the pair, they aren't being used anywhere, and someone should undo the stench of the New 52 Liefield series.

As I wrote before, Ted Kord would be a retired Blue Beetle who is still in shape and combat ready. He'd finance the team via his wealth from Kord Industries, but his happy place would be team mechanic and gadget guy. He'd occasionally suit up and go on mission, but nothing approaching a regular thing. He'd be more serious than JLI, but he'd still be the fun loving Ted we all love.

Other characters could guest star as mission specialists.

I do not want Babs as Batgirl on this team. In fact, I think DC should upgrade her to Oracle again the the present, and publish an all-ages Batgirl book about her time as Batgirl.
They should use their DC Kids line to focus on "iconic" iterations like that without harming the character's further development.

Oracle, Black Canary and Huntress, first, then Lady Blackhawk and Hawkwoman. Others, like Manhunter or the Question or Cassandra Cain, optional, or guest-stars, but probably not as regular members.

Adding Owlwoman or Gypsy as a sixth could be an interesting bit of new, thrown into the mix, though. (Although I wouldn't want both Hawkwoman and Owlwoman on the same team, because they are kinda same-y, role-wise. Owlwoman would feel more unique on a BoP line-up that didn't already have a flying hand-to-hand fighter. Gypsy I'd want to be invisible almost 24/7, except when hanging out with the others during downtime, and a 'secret weapon' that nobody off the team even knows is a members, and wrecks the best-laid plans of anyone who has meticulously planned for the *known* Birds of Prey members, and isn't expecting an invisible spoiler.)
