Ideal Lineup for a Birds of Prey Team

Lady Blackhawk
Starling
Strix
Bluebird

Oracle acts as founder and mission control so she doesn't have to be a bird

I don't know how to justify Huntress yet. Maybe she covers the Prey part not the Bird part lol

Bumping up this thread two years later, . . .

Since Black Canary and Barbara both currently seem a bit too busy these days to be regular members of the BoP, do you think think it could be feasible to relaunch a new "Birds of Prey" team?
Who would you want as regular members of the team?
(NOTE: Black Canary and Barbara could still make occasional guest appearances.)

I guess the best route would be to use Wendy White as 'Proxy' and have her be explicitly identified as being inspired by Babs. Her father being a villain should also open doorways to stories that you can't tell

Onyx can replace Black Canary as the field agent and her background as a member of the League of Assassins will help them open up new story threads.

Grace Choi can serve as the muscles on the team.

Huntress/Helena Bertinelli, once the student, now the master who has to tutor the new Oracle.

Lady Blackhawk/Zinda Blake, pilot, driver and serves as the chauffeur of the team. Also tries to help guide the new team.

Aquagirl/Lorena Marquez, the team's Atlantean contact and a new member of the team who can bring in new powers.

Hawkgirl/Kendra Saunders, provides air support to the team. Contrasting with Aquagirl. Her connection to Nth metal and the reincarnation thing should open up door ways to other story telling opportunities.

Traci 13:, provides magical support to the team and opens up door ways for them to explore that avenue.


I know this seems like a large team. Huntress and Lady B are support characters but can be removed entirely if necessary.

Why would cat-themed characters (Catwoman, Catman) be included in a team called Birds of Prey? I'd even question Batgirl's inclusion, since she is based on a bat.

The only 'birds' have been Black Canary and Starling, I think.
Oh, and Lady Blackhawk.

I think 'birds' is used in a double-meaning, with more of a play on the slang term for 'girl'.
We likely won't be see Hawk, Golden Eagle or Northwind joining anytime soon.

Which is as it should be. I *like* Harley (a lot) but this team ain't hers.

Lady Blackhawk would be good.

Maybe the ORIGINAL version of Black Orchid. She was super strong and a master of disguise.

Is Mirage still around? If so I vote for her to be considered as well. Brett's post above points out the need for stealth and espionage capabilities. I considered Gypsy but the name makes me pause and she has done a long stint on the League whereas Mirage is MIA.

I would also like to see the team run into the Ravens and the Body Doubles out in the field. (But then I am ALWAYS up for more Body Doubles)
