PRC is a different beast. Trying to figure out its nuances, yeah, it's tough. Still, I think it could work. If Marvel hypes up the Mandarin as a sympathetic character, it could overcome some things.

As for Simu, been checking out his IG feed for the past couple of weeks. He's been hanging out in Santorini (or as he calls it "Shangtorini") before reporting for filming. Like how he's already having a little fun with Shang.

    Default Shang Chi Fan plot

So heres my Fan made movie plot for Shang Chi. Just something I made to pass the Time.

Expect to see Classic Shang Chi Characters like M’Nai , Pavane( Race bent to an Asian Pavani), Chao Sima(I made him fully evil in this), Jack Tarr (gender bent to Female), Clive reston and Leiku Wu.

Agent Woo and Atlas Foundation also play an important role in this

    PROLOGUE

A Long Time ago, there was an Immortal who ruled China. He was called the Mandarin and he was greatly feared.

China prospered in his reign, But the People were oppressed by his Harsh commands and desired Freedom.

So, the Wizards of the Land came together and led a Rebellion against the Mandarin

After a Bloody war, the Wizards overthrew their Immortal king.

The Mandarin was magically imprisoned in the darkest bowels of the Earth - China was free.

But the Mandarins most Loyal followers survived and swore Vengeance on China and the World.

They have grown in Number through the ages, a dark army waiting in the Shadows.

They are called the 10 Rings.

    FIRST ACT
Five Agents of Atlas have secretly entered a Hidden 10 rings base. They hack into the Computer Mainframe downloading secret information. Whilst doing this They are caught by M’Nai and Pavani who are High ranking members of the 10 rings.

The Agents reveal they are armed with what can essentially be described as Lightsaber axes. They attack M’Nai and Pavani-This proves to be a mistake as M’Nai has a High-tech Armor suit and Pavani is Extremis Enhanced. A Kungfu Battle ensues and all the agents are killed. Pavani notes that the Agents already sent a message with the stolen data back to Atlas Foundation HQ. M’Nai frowns.

Meanwhile at Atlas Foundation we see Shang Chi having a Friendly Kungfu matchup with Black Jack Tarr, Clive Reston and Leiku Wu. Shang chi wins against all of them whilst giving them Friendly pointers.

We see a bit of what Life is like at the Atlas Foundation is like. The Atlas Foundation is essentially a Chinese equivalent of Shield.

Shang chi and his friends go the Armory to obtain Lightsaber Axes which are the signature weapons of Agents of Atlas. They are new recruits, so this will be their first time wielding it. ShangChi refuses to take one, mysteriously stating he already has a weapon. Leiku Wu teases Shang Chi for always being mysterious-They don’t know much about his backstory other than the fact he joined Atlas recently.

Some Other Agents meet Shang chi and his Friends. They Insult Jack and Clive stating they are too white for the Agency as it historically only accepted Asians. Shang-chi reminds them that Atlas changed its policy after Thanos Snap. The world needs to be more united than ever.

The Other agents attack Shang chi because they are assholes and he kicks their asses swiftly. Just then Agent Woo, a high-ranking Senior Agent shows up. After berating the ******* Agents, He calls away Shang chi for an Important meeting. Shang chis friends note the Familiarity and respect Agent Woo give Shang chi.

The Meeting turns out to be a Meeting with the Top Leaders of Atlas. In the meeting, Agent Woo reveals that he received the Stolen data from the Agents he sent to infiltrate the 10 rings terrorist organization.

The Data is still being decrypted but they reveal a Disturbing truth: The Real Mandarin had been freed from his Magical prison by the 10 rings organization.

The Leaders of Atlas don’t want to believe this: This could be another Fake Mandarin, just like Trevor and Killan right? But the Data is clear that the Real Mandarin is loose. In fact, the Data reveals that the Mandarin was freed 15 years ago and had kept his return a secret, running the Ten rings from the shadows.

Shang chi is also concerned. He states that For the Mandarin to have been silent all these years means he must be planning something big

The Leaders begin to ask Agent Woo on who the hell Shang chi is but are interrupted by an explosion.

The HQ is attacked by the 10 rings. Half of the Attackers are Extremis Enhanced, the other wear High tech Armor.

The Leaders join the Battle between Rings and Agents. Shang Chi splits away from them to help his Friends

The Leaders attack the Command Ship that brought the Rings. They Encounter the Mandarin guarded by M’Nai and Pavani. Mandarin instructs his bodyguards not to get involved and challenges ALL the Leaders to a Duel.

Meanwhile Shang chis friends are battling the Mandarins goons. They encountered a Very skilled Goon wearing Hi tech Armor wielding Multiple Blades. He’s Called Razor Fist.

Razor Fist defeats all 3 of Shang Chis Friends. Shang Chi shows up to save them. Razor Fist mocks Shang chi for facing him unarmed. Shang chi states that Razor Fist is wrong -he does have a Weapon.

The Scene then changes to an animated Flashback of the War with the Mandarin (similar to prologue). It goes like this

The War with the Mandarin was not easily won. At times it seemed the Mandarin was Invincible.

But a Hero rose up on the scene. This Hero Wielded the Enchanted Sky Cloak which made him faster and stronger than the average man. Leading the Army of Wizards, This Hero turned the tide of the War and the Mandarin was overthrown.

The Name of this Hero was Shang Chi.

    Scene returns to present day

Shang Chi faces Razor Fist. Shang Chi’s Clothes magically Transform into a beautiful Red and Gold outfit (Basically a variation of his Comic book Classic outfit). This Outfit is the Sky Cloak and it is his secret weapon. Razor Fist recognizes Shang Chi as the Hero who defeated the Mandarin thousands of years ago

Shang chi easily defeats Razorfist thanks to his skills and the enhanced Strength and speed his Sky Cloak gave him. His Friends cannot but stare in awe.

Meanwhile the Mandarin singlehandedly battles the Atlas Leaders. They are all very skilled and all wield Lightsaber axes. But they are no match for Mandarin’s Kungfu and the power Rings he wields. He Kills them all.

Shang chi and his Friends show up and see the Carnage.

Mandarin and Shang Chi face each other and greet each other: As Father and Son.

Mandarin calls out Shang Chi for betraying his own Father and helping his enemies to Imprison him for thousands of years. Shang Chi states sadly he had no choice: The Mandarin was a Monster.

He challenges his Father to a duel.

Mandarin points out that Shang chi has never defeated him in a 1 on 1 battle-He only won last time because he had an Army of Wizards. But there is no Army here to save him

Shang Chi attacks the Mandarin with his Sky Cloak active, and the Mandarin defeats him in one hit. M’Nai and Pavani knocks out Shang Chis friends as well. The Mandarin looks at the Unconscious body of his Son with mixed feelings and comes to a decision.

He orders his men to bring Shang Chi and his Friends back to his base as Prisoners. He Also orders his men to destroy the Atlas Foundation HQ and leave no other Survivors.

The First act ends with the destruction of Atlas Foundation HQ and with Shang chi prisoner.

    SECOND ACT

Shang-Chi awakes on Mandarins Aircraft in Chains. He is in chains with his Friends in a cell.

They discuss the Elephant in the room-the fact Shang Chi is the Hero who was responsible for the defeat of the Mandarin thousand of years ago AND the Son of the Mandarin. Classic Marvel banter ensues between the Friends

Shang Chi is taken by the Cell guards to the Mandarin. It’s a time for heart to heart with Father and son.

Mandarin asks ShangChi where he has been all those 1000 years? How is he even alive when he is not Immortal like the Mandarin?

    Shang Chi does not answer.

Mandarin changes the topic: He reveals he wishes to restore China back to the prosperous heaven it was under his rule and wants Shang Chi to join him. Shang Chi declines because Such a dream comes at a high price: the death of innocents and the price of Freedom: just like it did thousands of years ago. Mandarin points out the World has deteriorated to Chaos through the Ages, they need a god to show them the way no matter the Price. He calls out Shang Chi for being Self Righteous and Weak…but he plans to change all that. He has his guards take Shang Chi back to his Cell

Meanwhile its revealed that Agent Woo sneakily survived the assault on Atlas Foundation HQ and hes taken for medical treatment by the Chinese Military. He wonders why the Mandarin chose to attack at that moment and he comes to a realization, It must be because they had gotten Stolen Data from the 10 rings Mainframe. Agent Woo realizes that the Stolen Data must contain some more Vital information hidden within it that the Mandarin didn’t want anyone alive knowing. Its revealed Agent Woo has a backup file of the Stolen Data and he resolves to decrypt everything

Elsewhere the Mandarin Aircraft arrives at its destination: The Mandarins HQ which is the Secret Headquarters of 10 rings. The Mandarins HQ is an Ancient Beautiful Chinese temple in a Valley. We see numerous soldiers of the 10 rings living in this Valley protecting its secrets.

The Mandarin calls all of his Soldiers together for a Grand Speech. Shang Chi and his Friends are present in Chains.

In the Mandarins speech he praises the 10 rings for surviving the ages until he returned. He reminds them that for the past 15 years they have been stealing advanced tech all across the world. We see Flashbacks to Ironman trilogy and how they attempted to steal Tech from Stark. We see extra Flashbacks that reveal that they secretly succeeded offscreen.

It is with this stolen tech that the Mandarin has been creating Extremis soldiers like Pavani and Armored Soldiers like M’Nai. He Calls them The Elite.

The Mandarin reveals he has his Scientists creating more and more Elite every day. In 2 months they will have enough to conquer China and after that the World.

Shang Chi and his Friends are horrified.

Then the Mandarin declares he has some entertainment for them: He commands that his traitorous son and his friends be forced into a martial arts duel with some of the Elite. A duel to the death.

Chao Sima, Trainer of the Elite picks 10 of his top fighters to duel with Shang Chi and his friends.

The Battle is tough but with Shang chis Leadership, and some classic Marvel banter between friends, the heroes win the Gladiatorial duel. They however do not kill their opponent because out of honor

Mandarin calmly congratulates them on their victory-and tells them to prepare for another duel the next day. The Guards take our heroes to prison cells in the 10 rings HQ.

M’nai and Pavani privately ask the Mandarin why he’s keeping Shang Chi alive after all he’s done. The Mandarin reveals that before Shang Chi betrayed him, He was a Blood thirsty Berserker completely loyal to his Father. The Mandarin plans to awaken Shang Chis Berserker side by forcing him and his Friends into gladiatorial matches. If the Berserker is unleashed, The Mandarin is confident he can turn Shang Chi to the Dark side.

Mean While at a Chinese Military base, Agent Woo has Completely decrypted the Stolen data file. The File reveals everything about the Elite as well as the Secret Location of the Mandarins HQ. Agent Woo lets the Chinese Military know that they have to attack the Mandarin HQ, before the Mandarin has enough of the Elite to destroy China with.

Back at the Mandarins HQ, Clive figures out a way to break the Team out of their cells. They begin their escape from Mandarin HQ.

Our Heroes are Caught by Chao Sima and 3 other Elite Trainers. A Kungfu Battle ensues.

Chaos Sima and the Elite Trainers are a lot more skilled than the Elite Soldiers, so they win the Battle fairly easily. Chao Sima Kills Clive causing Shang Chi to break down in Grief.

Chao Sima and the Elite Trainers almost kill the rest but M’Nai shows up and stops them. He reminds them that Shang Chi and his Friends are only to be killed when the Mandarin says so. Shang chi and his friends are thrown back to the cells.

The Mandarin visits Shang Chi and Brutally mocks him for his failure to protect Clive. We see Shang Chi get angrier than hes ever been and he threatens to Kill every 10-ring operative when he’s free from his chains.

We see the Mandarin leave Shang Chis cell with a Smile-His plan to unleash the Berserker in Shang Chi is working. Shang Chi only needs one more push.

    THIRD ACT

The Mandarin Commands that ShangChi be Forced into another Martial arts duel. His Opponent is Chao Sima, Murderer of Clive Reston.

Everyone in Mandarin HQ show up to watch the duel. Leiku Wu warns Shang Chi not to give into his rage. She realizes that the Mandarin is manipulating him to turn him into a Savage. But Shang Chi does not Listen. He is focused on Vengeance for Clive.

Shang Chi vs Chao Sima duel begins. Chao Sima is Extremis enhanced and Higly skilled but Shang Chi is Mad. Shang Chi goes Berserk mode on Chao Sima and defeats him in a Brutal display of power. The 3 other Elite Trainers see Shang Chi almost kill Chao Sima and rush in to save their Comrade. Shang Chi defeats them all-His Rage is too great. The Berserker is loose. The Mandarin watches with Glee.

Shang Chi moves to deal the Killing blow to Chao Sima but he hesitates when he sees Leiku wu Face in the crowd. He Snaps out of the Berserker Mode and spares Chao Sima. He then yells to all present that he will not be the Mandarins Puppet-He will not be a Monster.

The Mandarin is Furious and orders All his Soldiers to Kill Shang Chi and his Friends.

But just then, Mandarin HQ comes under attack. Agent Woo and the Chinese Military attack the Mandarin HQ wielding advanced weaponry. There are also some Atlas agents in the mix attacking.

Chaos ensures and its an all-out Battle between Chinese Army and The 10 rings.

In the Chaos M’Nai faces Shang Chi in a Duel. Agent Woo, Jack and Leiku Wu Face Pavani in a Duel as well.

The Mandarin sees his Soldiers being defeated by the Chinese Army. As powerful as they are they are Outnumbered. The Mandarin is enraged and goes Berserk and begins Killing Chinese Army soldiers in Mass. Its a stunning display of power.

In his Duel with M’Nai, Shang Chi channels the power of his Beserker mode without the Rage: An Enlightenment power so to speak. With this new powerup He defeats M’Nai easily. He is now Ready to face the Mandarin

Pavani is defeated by Agent Woo, Jack and Leiku.

The Mandarin is slaughtering Soldiers in Mass. Shang Chi calls the soldiers to back away, He will take on his Father one on one.

The Final Duel is here: Mandarin vs Shang Chi. Father vs Son. Hero from Myths versus Villain from Legends.

Shang Chi reveals to his Father exactly why he is still alive after Thousands of years.

The Scene then changes to an animated Flashback of the War with the Mandarin (similar to prologue). It goes like this

When the Mandarin was defeated, there was joy in the land.

But a Prophecy came that Thousands of years later, China would face another great evil. The only way China would overcome it is if Shang Chi the Hero was alive to Help.

So, the Wizards of the Land cast a Spell, putting Shang Chi into an Ageless Slumber. He would sleep for thousands of years only to awaken when China needs him the Most.

    Scene returns to present day

Shang Chi states he awoke from the Spell three years ago. He stands now to fulfill his Destiny to protect China from the Great evil: The Mandarin.

The Mandarin loses it and He attack Shang Chi. It’s a tough Battle straight out Wuxia. No one interferes and the people watch this duel of legends. It’s a Close battle but Shang Chi wins in the End.

    Next comes the movies Denouement.

The Mandarin is arrested and imprisoned in a High tech Facilty.

A Funeral is held for all the dead Agents of Atlas. Shang Chi and his friends pay respect to their fallen friend.

Agent Woo is named the new head of Atlas Foundation and a new Base is built. There are still 10 rings cells around the World that need to be dealt with it. But without the Mandarin leading tem, Agent Woo feels they have a chance.

Final Movie shot is Shang Chi training hundreds of new Atlas agent recruits, whilst his Friends watch in awe and Pride.

Sorry, I don't like it. I would prefer that Mandarin be brought to screen using his original comic origin: a rich kid whose parents died, and whose hateful aunt squandered his wealth training him to be her evil super-soldier, like a cross between Roman Sionis and X-23. And who, once broke, turned into Christopher Columbus, exploring new lands, finding valuable resources there, and using those resources to enslave the natives. Why bring the Mandarin to the screen if you are yet again going to change his origin so much as to make the character unrecognizable?

It also makes the story about cycles of abuse. The aunt twisted her nephew into being her evil super-soldier, and now Mandarin is trying to twist his son into being his super-soldier. I think that's more interesting than Shang fighting some evil emperor like the Mummy sequel.

I understand your reasons completely and can’t complain.

I chose to alter Mandarin’s comic origin for two reasons,

1.In ‘’Hail the King’’ The Mandarin is referred to as a Warrior King who inspired may through the ages. I altered the Mandarins origin to fit that.
2.Since we are merging Zheng Zu with Mandarin, I thought it fitting that we make the Final character be immortal.

Well that's assuming that the Ten Rings belief is true, and not a con fostered on them by The Mandarin. I don't think he'd want it public knowledge that he's a bitter psychotic's attempt to create a super-soldier. Or that immediately after finishing his training, he went exploring and pulled off Christopher Columbus-like evils on the natives near the spaceship.

    True, True.

I personally don’t want that to be the case though. I don’t want the Real Mandarin to be another con like Trevor and Killan. If the Legends say he was a Warrior King, then I will want the Real Mandarin to be that. No Con or anything.

Also if this Mandarin is to have Zheng zu attributes, Him being a Warrior King from old times fits perfectly.

Plus that does not change him from being a psychotic being twisted by his aunt to a supersoldier, or him murdering Makluans for their rings. It just changes the time period it occurred. Once again making a perfect blend of Zheng zu and Comic book Mandarin.

But I understand your point though.

    https://deffinition.co.uk/jackie-cha...-of-ten-rings/

Interesting news. Apparently they will NOT be fusing Fu Manchu and The Mandarin. Personally I consider this good news, because they really are very distinct characters.

Fu Manchu is Death. He's sneaky and likes to use poison and snakes in the bed. He's coldly logical and rather nerdy.

The Mandarin is War. He's savage and likes to use missiles and two mile long robot dragons and karate-chop his enemies to pieces with his bare hands. He's overwhelmingly masculine in demeanor, easily enraged and surrounding himself with harem girls and wealth and participating in gladiatorial games.

The two really have almost nothing in common except race, and even that is debatable, since The Mandarin is half British and half ethnic Mongol. Really the Mandarin has more in common with Gorilla Grodd than he does Fu Manchu.

So I'm glad they are keeping them distinct characters in the movie.

Isn't that the point? Mandarin is Shang Chi's father. I'm speculating, but Shang Chi's father is his greatest enemy. If you're bringing in the Mandarin, how could he NOT be his father?

In the MCU the Ten Rings is a terrorist cell. This dates back to Iron Man 1
