And covers and solicitations do not give a clear and accurate account of What will be written in the books and more importantly, How it will be written so...all the hand-wringing is quite unnecessary.
Storm, Kitty, and Iceman haven't had to worry about writers throwing them under the bus to reset to a status quo from 1985. They're evergreen members of the X-Men: they were there during the Clairemont glory days, and therefore will appear in a mostly heroic capacity until the last X-Men comic rolls off the press. Emma does not have this luxury, and the last several years prove that.

Is that really leaked official art? I could have sworn I first saw that on twitter weeks ago with someone presenting it as their fan art. And it has the Marauders #1 trade dress, not #3..

Oh, found it. It's by this person; their signature is in the piece: https://twitter.com/VinnySAart/statu...06242482671618

Yeah, that's fan art. It isn't official.

The last several years, according to HiX-man, are "lost"...thank the Goddess!
None of these new writers are Claremont so, those fans would still be concerned whether or not their all-time-FAVE! will be written well, competently, or badly.
...A futile effort simply because you all cannot predict exactly what you'll be given.

But it still hasn't happened to Emma.

They tried their hardest for post-Schism X-Men, IvX, Blue, and Uncanny.

As long as JDW and editorial make the majority decisions, I'll remain cautious of anything regarding Emma.

They're not where Hickman is concerned. You won't believe that, but it's true. That said, caution is understandable. But you have to consider giving a book some credit if it actually features Emma and doesn't result in a rollback to 1985, which is constantly feared but has yet to occur. You can't just keep saying 'but what about next month?' That's just a recipe for perpetuating misery.

By the time Marauders 2 is out and we have the actual solicit for 3 we should have a pretty good idea of where things stand.

I mean, I'm not particularly worried about either of those issues, but even then three issues in you're likely only going to be partly through a first story arc. Do as you please.

Kitty (and Colossus) has been thrown under the bus by Whedon and Guggs because they wanted to reset to a pre-1985 status quo. Storm still hasn't recovered from NOT being written as her pre-1991 status quo.

Their relationship maybe. But Kitty was leading the Gold team, leading for the start of Uncanny, and is leading the Marauders. Kitty's "disappearance" was classic comic book "put on shelf, take off later to inflate sales" tactic.

    Colossus it nearly stuck.

Storm is... her own little bag of weird. Allegations of racism, moving her back and forth between the X-Men, the Avengers, and Black Panther solos. She's her own bag of weird. But she's never been written as anything other than a loyal X-character, a leader of the team (arguments allowed), and her portrayals with the X-Men have never been less than consistent at the very least. She's had a crisis of character with leadership and what not for a time, but nothing compared to the pit of nightmares Scott and Emma have been thrown into.

Not really. At absolute worst, Storm was kind of a mediocre leader, or seen as just arm candy for a heavily disputed Black Panther run.

Scott was called "Mutant Hitler", despised by half of the X-fanbase, killed off in embarassing fashion, and grossly character assassinated by both writers and editorial for years. Then when it became hip to not hate Scott anymore, they kill him and put all of the blame on Emma, who then gets dragged further through the mud for years afterwards.

I mean, when at any point in Storm's entire character history has the entire X-team threatened to murder her for her perceived crimes?

Kitty and Colossus in the modern era give me hives. Pryde and Wisdom all the way.

Storm's current connection with T'Challa in the Coates book seems decent but the godawful Hudlin run/PR stunt was disastrous for her character.
