A god touched him and made tattoos magically appear. After he saved the group of gods lives. And said "There, a gift. You are marked as one of us now." And that he was granted an honor and belonged to the ocean and "The honor is not to rule, but to serve." Aquaman #47.

I have question - the actual tattoos put on him: are they copied off Mamoa's real tattoos or just fictional altogether? I understood him to have real and fake ones for the movie. Some say this non-Polynesian Arthur having them is inappropriate, but I wanted to know if these ones were actually copied from any culture or just made-up movie ones. Or is just the idea of tattoos copied from movie and they look totally different? Also, what are the odds they are drawn consistently rather than appearing different artist to artist?

I think it was a gift from the gods? It just reeks of forced movie synergy to me.
Yeah. But the story leading up to it was pretty good.

I wonder if any of the people working on any of the Joker stories are bummed that DC is saturating the market with Joker stories and some of them might get lost in the shuffle.

Yeah, it's Crush and mind-control. Not exactly The Judas Contract.
I know that Orlando's stuff is primarily to do with being tie-ins - this Cheetah stuff links to Snyder's Justice stuff - I've no clue what the length of tenure is going to be or where or when Wilson's stuff will pick back up. (Or if!)

This is the one I'm thoroughly considering. All that Rozakis? I've never seen those stories cleaned up and made pretty, and I've only read a handful of them. But that era of Robin is fantastic. You also can't help but read Dick in those stories as Casey Kasem, which is still funny to me.

Maybe we'll get to see an Aquaman vs. Lobo comic!

I couldn't care less about Lethiathan or the Year of the Villian. Which reduces the number of books I am going to be picking up.

Jimmy Olsen, Superman Smashes the Klan and Lemire's Joker are the only books that interest me. All of them have nothing to do with big status quo events that are currently happening, which says a lot about how much I care.
