Default CrossGeneration: The CrossGen Appreciation Thread 2019

    CE0456DC-194D-4B07-8957-D367644B3001.jpg

Sigil. Mystic. Scion. Meridian. The First. Crux. Sojourn. Ruse. Negation. The Path. Way of the Rat. Brath. Chimera. Solus.

In 1999 former Fortune 500 ceo Mark Alessi decided to go into the comics biz, and attracted big name talents like Ron Marz, Mark Waid, Chuck Dixon, with established artists like Brandon Peterson, George Perez, and up and comers like Josh Middleton, Jimmy Cheung, and many more. They killed it, unfortunately they grew too fast, and buckled under the weight of their overreach. Feel free to discuss your favorite moments from this fledgling company. Hopefully Disney/Marvel will see about eventually resurrecting this line of books. I’d love to see a Conan/Brath crossover.

Loved Crossgen! Have the entire Way of the Rat collection. I was also a huge fan of Ruse and Brath. Glad that you made the thread. A lot of today's best artists, like Jimmy Cheung, Greg Land, and Scott Eaton got REALLY famous there.

Sigil, Negation, and Meridian were my favorites. I am surprised Disney has not started mining the Crossgen library for movie ideas. Something like Meridian seem custom made for a Disney type movie. It has alot that could be amazing on the big screen. I mean it is a superpowered teenage girl air pirate.

I found Negation to be the best of all their titles, though I can't recall one title that I didn't like. I wish Marvel would retcon the entire universe into taking place in the present MCU. Too many great characters are being wasted (along with Ultraverse).

Disney bought them (IIRC to get the rights of Abadazad) and then Marvel published CrossGen titles after Disney bought Marvel.

No. After CrossGen went bankrupt, Disney bought their intellectual properties.

So it begins! With CrossGenesis, a primer for the four upcoming flagship titles that would spearhead the rest of the shared universe.

Man, I was so bummed when their comics were cancelled. The Way of the Rat was too short.
