I'm surprised people don't think it was meant to be ominous. Especially since the next page lists all omega mutants with Franklin the only one listed with a human alliance. Oh, and the page says that they want to secure all omegas in the future. They weren't exactly subtle putting that chart right after that scene lol

There's definitely some cult vibes going on and I'm here for it.

The more I re-read the issue and thought about it, I'm changing my vote from a 4 to a 2. I don't know what this is, but it's not really X-Men.

Hickman's cut/note. Nothing is said about a threat.

Yes, but the rest are invitation only and there was no invitation to Sue.

Nothing needs to be said in the script.

Really enjoyed this first issue. Had so much going on - all new mysterious - all new concepts - all new spins on classics. I am very intrigued about where we go from here. I have enjoyed Hickman's run of Fantastic Four and the Avengers. This start, however, just really feels right and fresh after so many stale attempts before it.

it's obvious Krakoa is the head of the mutant family. Xavier is just its puppet

It’s not obvious. It’s a possibility. I suspect they are a new gestalt.

    Things I loved:

    1. The Krakoan alphabet.
    2. The designery page breaks with charts, graphs , and gibberish.
    3. The Jerusalem habitat, love international X-Men.
    4. The Cuckoos with Magneto. It felt right and overdue.
    5. The appearances of the Fantastic Four, and its professional camaraderie.
    6. The location of Krakoa in the Oceania regions of the Pacific.

    Things not so much:

    1. Sabretooth being on a villain team and dealt with like fodder.
    2. The 0s and 1s of the page break gibberish, I hate that garbage.
    3. Dead "mutants" coming back to life, specifically Esme and Sophie.
    4. Omega mutants description and listing. I agree it needed clarification, but "limitless measurability" feels boring.
    5. The Warlock arm on Cypher. Hell, Cypher himself. Where'd I leave my kill list?
    6. The greening of the Little Black Broccoli Girl.

Im having a hard time re-reading it too. Probably bc most of it is exposition and setting up the statu quo so once you've absorbed all that information there's little value left. Cyclops exchange with the FF is the only significant interaction between pre existing characters. And its not enough to hold my interest personally.

when people read new x-men, they said the same thing and now many, not particularly me, love that run. it's been one issue. we have to let this play out

What I like most is that there is something off, but we don’t know what it is yet. Something isn’t right about all of this and I can’t wait to see what it is.
The interaction with the Fantastic Four was interesting (I love that it’s not the Avengers again). The mention of Franklin came across as slightly foreboding to me. And if I were in their place I’d be tense too. The omega mutant chart after that moment practically spelled out that Franklin is wanted in Krakoa. He is the only omega affiliated with humans and is one of the most powerful with universal reality manipulation. I wonder what’s going to happen.
