Maybe not. The thing about changing the status quo is that you change the status quo. Hickman seems to be trying to get the X-Men out of the rut they've been stuck in since like the 80's.
Although marvel might hit the old reset button again I'm hoping that they don't. At least not for another 10+ years.
Can't be a coincidence that Franklin is the only one listed with humans. I think there will be more to the Richards later since I can't X imagine is happy that there is an Omega (arguably the most powerful one) 'aligned' with the humans.
After a third read-through, I think I've identified what's bothering me about this. It's the lettering.
Its not bad by any measure, its just strange to see capital and lowercase lettering again. I'm sure it pops up more than I notice, but I can't remember an X-book in the last 3 years that had this. I seem to remember a lot of things around 2000-2003 looked like this.
In all seriousness I'm glad you X-Fans got, what is s by most accounts, a good book. I hope it lasts through the run.
Even if I'm expecting an "It's a cookbook!" moment.
It's obvious from the solicits that their nation still stands at the end of HoX/PoX regardless if they end up defeating X or whatever is going on. It does sound like they are at odds with various human governments.
X-Men - defense force/armed forces for the Krakoan Nation
X-Force - secret service for the Krakoan Nation
Marauders - Trade and Shipping for the Krakoan Nation - labelled as pirates by some human governments that are probably trying to embargo the Krakoan Nation.
New Mutants - space exploration force for the Krakoan Nation - also probably a kind of ambassadorial team to maintain good relations (or bad) with some Alien nations that the X-Men want as allies.
Excalibur - mutant alliance with Otherworld magic to help mutants learn more about their own link to the magical forces.
Fallen Angels - I think this is the group that doesn't feel at home on the Krakoan Nation and go their own way.
I wonder if those flowers can enslave humans if ingested.
