I am, too, as long as it turns out to be a plot point rather than just the way Hickman writes the characters.

between this and the Xstatix special from a couple of weeks ago....I am FINALLY excited to read X books again. Whatever Marvel has to pay Hickman to keep him as long as possible, man, freaking do it

Of course things sound ominous. With Magneto threatening ambassadors, Cyclops offering amnesty to armed robbers, then he has the stones to mention their child as if joining them is an inevitably. Cyclops has played this game before of gathering the largest pool of insanely powerful mutants. The FF have every right to be on guard. They'd be stupid not to be.

Mutants should be on guard, too, considering Genosha and Utopia were both destroyed. Magneto's arrogance definitely seems out-of-place given the past.

I wouldn't mind seeing Franklin having an awakening and deciding to learn about being a mutant. Maybe then he wouldn't have created universes where his own kind are hated.

    ted.
Agreed on the "on guard" but for me, Magneto's "arrogance" feels more like pride based. Like he's pleased to essentially be on the same page with Charlie. They now share a similar vision. Or at least, this is the closest they've come to being this unified.

Not to mention unified in a way that's, for the moment, looking more in-keeping with Magneto's usual vision than Xavier's. And it seems to be working.

Damn this is probably the most universally liked X-Men issue in this board in a looooong time. People here have been starved for something like this for a while

Just realized the page with the cuckooks walking in does show 4 cukoos in white. The one in the front looks like she has black on because of the shading from the others but the upper corner is white. But to be even more simplistic there are 4 cuckoos walking inside the building and Mindee was already inside next to magneto. So all 5 on panel.

People really gave this one or two stars?

How can you feel negative about this issue?

    "It's not the X-Men I remember!"

"My favorite didn't get enough panel time!"

I bet those would be the top 2 reasons.

That and "Hickman didn't explain everything in this one issue, I can't be bothered to read a whole series"

I was rash & gave it 3 yesterday morning, but I would overall give it a 4.

Some hated it for one or more reasons.

    1. Their favorite characters weren't in it or only had speechless cameos.
    2. Too much talking & info dumped.
    3. Don't like Scott's characterization
    4. Don't like Creed being with the X-Men
    5. Impatient & not getting the answers they want fast enough
    etc.

There can just be any number of reasons someone can hate anything.

True. In a sea of glowing praise the negative votes just stand out more I guess. Still it's good to see the majority of readers enjoyed it. From what I'm seeing outside of this board people are hyped up for this event.

I think any rankings in general are too early. Marvel's hyped this so much that almost all responses are compromised in some way by hype, and more reflective of the person ranking it than the contents of the actual issue. This applies to both the high and low ends of the spectrum.

Having these rankings is a nice baseline for future response though. I expect more accurate response will come around issues 6/7/8.

One thing I'm curious about - because I didn't keep a close enough eye on it at the time - is how people responded to Rosenberg's run when it was first coming out. I know all of the anger and backlash from moments like what happened to Wolfsbane, and unnecessary character deaths. But knowing what people thought the run would be like would be more interesting to know.
