I just wanted to post this cover because it's the one that I always think of in relation to astronauts and the moon.
It's for SUPERMAN’S PAL, JIMMY OLSEN No. 126 (January 1970), which went on sale November 25, 1969, some months after the first moon landing. And probably the earlist that comic artists would have had photographic reference they could use--you can see the LEM on the cover. Curt Swan and Murphy Anderson got almost everything right, but they messed up the Earth--it should be tilted 90 degrees, something anyone at the time would have known from having seen the moon landing the previous summer (as I had). It seems strange that Curt and Murph were so faithful in everything else but not that detail. Nevertheless, that cover makes me feel like I’m there on the moon.
