Another vote for Dragonslayer which was plenty dark and grim. I’m pissed that it hasn’t been released on Blu-Ray.
Avatar: Here's to the late, great Steve Dillon. Best. Punisher. Artist. EVER!
I want to see a remake of The Black Hole with modern CGI.
Dragonslayer was a classic, I thought. And I didn't find it all that dark. Mostly it just was violent and a bit tense in parts. Though calling it a Disney film is a bit like calling Far From Home a Sony movie - kind of.
Of the era you are talking about, I'm picking Watcher in the Woods. What a fricking creepy movie, Disney would probably completely disown it today. Its like the Holiday Special for Star Wars, there is no finding an official copy.

I have a dimming memory of a few of these films. Haven't seen them in years/decades, for the ones I did see.
Is the Black Hole movie really darker, for its time?
It along with popeye was done by both paramount and Disney. It counts for both. Paramount has American home video rights and Disney has it every other part of the world.Dragonslayer was a classic, I thought. And I didn't find it all that dark. On the plus side uk got a really neat teaser poster.

It was for a Disney film at the time. Deaths (one guy is killed by spinning blades), and a ending that scared some kids. Today it might be more tame.Is the Black Hole movie really darker, for its time?
