    Default Great Character Actors

They don't get to lead, but they can make a movie or TV episode.

I'd say Anthony Zebe. He could be a bum, a scoundrel, a wise mentor or a master criminal.

I liked it when Charles McCauley did a hammy character (House of The Se en Corpses, Dracula in Night Gallery).

Jeffrey Combs. Perhaps most famous for his many Star Trek characters but also did a ton of horror (sometimes lead roles) and animation stuff.

James Horan. Also a lot of Trek but tons of other small roles and video game voice acting (He was the main bad guy in Metal Gear Solid V as well).

    Thomas Kopache, Jeanette Goldstein....

I feel like my idea of "character actor" differs a lot from how other people are using it based on the names here.

I always thought Steve Buscemi really looked like Mastermind, especially when he grew a little moustache!

I would have loved to see him play Mastermind in an X-Men film.

Yeah, then he'd actually be able to fool people into thinking he belonged in a high school and infiltrate Xavier's.

I think if they have a well-known name then they aren't a classic character actor. Character actors are those people who you see in so many T.V. shows and movies and you recognize the face but you don't know the name. I mean, I've learned the names of many now--with all the old movies and T.V. shows I've been watching during the pandemic--but in my younger days, it would just be oh there's that guy again, he always plays that kind of fellow. Or there's that woman who always plays a cranky old lady.

    LOL!

He even has the similar build to Mastermind: about 5'8" to 5'10" and 140 pounds. Just imagine him wearing Mastermind's brown cloak outfit....

Now that I think about it, is Bryne's reinvention of Mastermind as Jason Wyngarde (Not sure he had the name before) as the ahem...Mastermind behind the Dark Pheonix corruption possibly based on British actor Peter Wyngarde?

Although certainly Jason from X2 who is based partly on Mastermind does look a bit like Buscemi.

Yes, that is exactly where he got the name.
