Indeed. And Spot having his powers hijacked by Coyote also showed how dangerous those abilities could really be.

Agreed. I just found out he has a reputation as being a "jobber", which I am not sure is accurate, but the fact that he has it at all is reason to value him as an underdog sort of character. He was said to be ushering in an age of "vile new villains" once, so I think he is poised for a climb to the top of the rogues list.

Gruesome. The epitome of true villainy, IMHO.

What makes Shocker great is the same thing that makes him "B-list," namely that he's not into B.S. vendettas with superheroes and he doesn't cross the line, at least not in ways that would get him killed by the likes of the Punisher or beaten to a pulp by Spider-Man or Daredevil.

Indeed. Few things eviler than someone who exploits people like that.

I actually like the villain to have vendettas against the hero. Not in a crazy, self-destructive way, but I always imagine Shocker can't wait for each subsequent fight with Spiderman.

Part of the problem with villain-on-hero vendettas is that all too often, the villain does go self-destructively crazy and cross lines that can't be so easily taken back, and to me, it sometimes doesn't feel like the hero is much of a hero if most of his or her fights are basically superpowered grudge matches.

Well, the later fights between the villains and the hero should build on their previous fights. It could get difficult to prevent them from being grudge matches.

Mine would probably be The Vulture. Out of all of Spidey's B-list villains, I feel his stories have been the most consistent.

    Mysterio would be my runner-up.

I would agree with you about Vulture being the best "B" villain, but I consider Mysterio an "A" Villain The guys I consider A baddies are: Otto, Norm, Carnage, Venom, Lizard, and Mysterio. The "B" Listers( besides Vulture) are Electro. Kingpin, Sandman, Mr. Negative, Rhino, and sad to say Hob ( Kingsley).

A lot of you all are naming a bunch of Ditko and Romita created villains, like Vulture, Shocker, and Mysterio. To me, most of those guys are so classic and synonymous with Spidey that they are, without a doubt, A villains, but I guess everyone's definition is different.

Great list! But don't forget these guys...

    Scorpion (Mac Gargan)
    Kraven the Hunter
    Chameleon
    Silvermane
    Hammerhead
    Jason Macendale
    Tombstone (L. Thompson Lincoln)
    Spencer & Alistair Smythe/Spider-Slayers

    Y'know who I liked?

AngelFace, from Phil's Green Goblin series.

I definitely wouldn't mind seeing her return as a Spidey villain.

-Pav, who enjoyed her Spider-Girl connections too...
You were Spider-Man then. You and Peter had agreed on it. But he came back right when you started feeling comfortable.
You know what it means when he comes back

"You're not the better one, Peter. You're just older."
