Unfortunately, for various reasons, this fight has been mostly unsuccessful. Recently, a storyline had a mutant vaccine appear and humans cheering when it looked as though the X-Men were gone. So, is it possible for mutants to finally what they want? Or, is Magneto right about humans always being against them?

Creatively it seems the overall direction to the mutant issue is separatism and the creation of a mutant ethnostate.

Yeah, that's my thought. It *could* happen, but will never be allowed to happen, because mutants gotta live in a 'world that hates and fears them,' unlike the Fantastic Four or Avengers. It's their brand. Sucks to be them, or the hateful two-dimensional caricatures of 'normal humans' that seem to flock to their side of the universe.
