Default Can mutants coexist with humans, or is it just an impossible dream?

Mutants, in particular the X-Men, have been fighting for the right to live in peaceful coexistence with humanity for decades. Unfortunately, for various reasons, this fight has been mostly unsuccessful. Recently, a storyline had a mutant vaccine appear and humans cheering when it looked as though the X-Men were gone. So, is it possible for mutants to finally what they want? Or, is Magneto right about humans always being against them?

Creatively it seems the overall direction to the mutant issue is separatism and the creation of a mutant ethnostate.

At this point, I feel like humans are more accepting of existing alongside aliens than they are with mutants.

No, because that would remove the X-Men's reason to exist as a comic book.

How does the average human tell the difference between Mutants like Beast and Nightcrawler and Inhumans like Gorgon and Triton?

It is unfair to reduce people to their powers like it is unfair to reduce people to their no-powers.
But it will be always extremists to manipulate people and play on fears…
Yes, it's possible but both sides — people of goodwill – must work hard for the peace.

No... I asked how do humans tell the difference between a Mutant and a Inhuman?

Yeah, that's my thought. It *could* happen, but will never be allowed to happen, because mutants gotta live in a 'world that hates and fears them,' unlike the Fantastic Four or Avengers. It's their brand. Sucks to be them, or the hateful two-dimensional caricatures of 'normal humans' that seem to flock to their side of the universe.
