"5 Drowned Men" from All-Star Comics #36 is a great story with beautiful art. As a plus, there was a great sequel to that story written by Roy Thomas for Infinity, Inc. #1-10.
The Injustice Society of the World from All-Star Comics #37 (1947):

The JSA stories in All-Star were pretty much event comics of the time. Many of them were huge stories mixed with more personal drama.
I'll second '5 Drowned Men'.
"There's magic in the sound of analog audio." - CNET.
"The Origin of Batman" in Batman # 47. This is the story where Batman confronts Joe Chill. There have been so many adaptations and retellings of this story over time, but the original still holds up IMO.
Then there's the original "Superman's Return to Krypton" story from Superman # 61, a pivotal story in which Superman first encounters Kryptonite, and learns about his Kryptonian origins. I would go as far as to say that this story set the stage for much of the Silver Age expansion of the Superman mythos.
