Wait... Mimic is there, and he’s not even a mutant (in 616). Not complaining, but he stands out..

I don’t get how Marvel classifies official X-Men, sub-team X-Men, etc. Like how is Cerebra an X-Man, Glob a ‘sub’, and no mention of Anole, Ernst, or No-Girl?
Even Juggernaut has been called a mutant on more than one occasion. Exiles Mimic was a mutant. Ours wasn’t. He doesn’t have a lot of stories, but they always talk about his father’s experiments. However, maybe they could say because he had permanently taken the abilities of the X-Men for so long, as well as Wolverine, his genetic makeup has altered over the years, mimicking the x-gene, effectively making him a mutant. At least as much as Mr Sinister is.
That's something I've long wondered. All sorts of heroes, from Spider-Man to the Hulk to the Fantastic Four, only exist, according to Days of Future Past, way back, because humanity has a latent potential for mutation. (And it was later a big deal that Kree did not have this same sort of Celestial tinkering, and couldn't develop metahumans or mutants in the same manner.) A mutant is just someone who *didn't* require an extra push to become superhuman, so, technically, Spider-Man, the FF, etc. should register as mutants *now* that their latent condition has activated. (And indeed, the Sentinels of Days of Future Past regarded 'latents' with powers as good as mutants anyway, and their tendency to have mutant kids, like Franklin Richards, despite not being mutants themselves, tended to support this position on their part, which was cold machine logic, not irrational bigotry.)
But, for whatever reason, Marvel seems to have shied away from that sort of thing, and held superhumans like Captain America and Daredevil and Mr. Fantastic and Luke Cage apart, even though they are essentially just 'latent' mutants who got their latent X-gene triggered by some activating event. It's just a different 'mutant origin' than Cyclops or Storm (became a mutant at puberty) or Madrox or Nightcrawler (born a mutant), who *already* cover two variations on the classic 'mutant origin.' 'X-gene activated by cosmic rays or gamma rays or radioactive spider-bite or Power Broker treatment or Super-Soldier serum or heart-shaped herb' would just be another 'mutant origin.'
(There'd still be a few with no connection to the mutant gene. Supernatural folk like Thor, Blade, Iron Fist, Dr. Strange, Hellstrom, Ghost Rider, Werewolf by Night. Tech users like Iron Man and Doom. Skilled normals like Punisher and Hawkeye.)

And Specter
Leah Williams basically said “consider all of the NXAX characters back” after X-Factor #5 was released on her Twitter.
